I like how billy1912 agree's with me. But no one else does, i knew the history, ive been a suppoter all my life. But we have way more Scottish players than Irish at the club, we're in Scotland, and when we're in Europe everyone proably thinks they're facing an Irish club. Fly more Scots flags at the matches.

Billy I have mentioned before that flying the Irish Tricolour OR flying the Union Jack is not bigoted. Waving sectarian emblems or singing sectarian songs IS.

I think you are trying to stir things. Why do you keep quoting bigots and teh Irish flag in the same sentence. You really need to undertstand what a bigot is before calling anyone a bigot.

As an Irish Celtic fan I have no qualms with Celtic fans flying the Saltaire if some choose to do so but people will always fly the Irish Tricolour as well. Its not sectarian or bigoted - I don't understand what your or GuitarBhoy90's problem is.

I'm ashamed by some of the Celtic fans on this thread.

They have turned a perfectly reasonable argument about a valid point into an unintelligent slanging match.

Lennons_lass claims this is turning into an anti english thread, I Disagree. This is an anti scottish thread.

DO NOT FORGET, Glasgow Celtic, is a scottish team. They play in Glasgow in the Scottish Premier league. When they play in Europe, they represent Scottish football.

YES, they were set up to support irish immigrants, and a good thing that was. My family moved from Ireland to scotland during this period. But many generations born in Scotland now gives us the identity of Scottish.
Whilst we do not forget our roots, we embrace our current identity.

There should be more Scottish flags at Paradise, And Yes it is embarrassing when as a Scottish club travelling abroad we cannot see one Saltire in site. Having said that the fans Pay their hard earned money and make there choices.

Billy Has made a number of fair and unpersonal statements and has been bullied and harranged from all sides. He has been lumped in with all bad rangers fans and protestants. Then to top it of these people accuse HIM of being the biggot! Take a look at yourselves. We are the forgiving and accepting ones. Lets act like it.

Could not agree more. Plus the implied racism of the original post. Why make those comments about Irish flags at Celtic Park other then racism.

Ah quite the historian you are. Since the huns love kissing english * why don't you cut out the Scottish pretence and just fly the english flag at your games.

Because unlike you Celtic have a heritage to be proud of and celebrate:celt_2:
By the way I have never seen the Ulster flag flown at ibrox. But I would not expect someone who keeps pointing fingers ( and using the word bigot, some projection I think ) like you to get your facts right. The Ulster flag is actually yellow with a red cross and red hand in the middle. Not the white flag red cross etc which you refer to and which most certainly is a symbol of bigotry. Unlike the Irish flag which is a symbol of peace.

Why Scotland flags at Celtic games? We're a club not a country! The waving of the tricolour is symbolic and traditional. Have we to abandon history for some people's idea of political correctness?

best post i've seen to debate a point.
some of this thread has turned pathetic, keep the british arguement out of this.

my point would be: why would any celtic fan sing "the celtic song" and then become annoyed at the amount of tri-colours at parkhead??? celtic fc have a very close and proud link with ireland to this day, why should it be something to be ashamed of?
also, i welcome more scotthish flags at parkhead, whatever you would like to bring is up to the individual. prefer the green and white version personally, but only because it fits in well with the teriffic colour scheme of the scarfs and jerseys.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree strongly. Calling people he doesn't know that day in Seville bigots because they flew the Irish Tricolour is not a fair statement. What a silly statment that was from you!

A bigoted person is defined as: "A prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own."

A statement is defined as: "argument: a fact or assertion offered as evidence that something is true;"

Calling Celtic fans bigoted because they flew a Tricolour in Seville IS bigoted as it is not an opinion but an attempt at declaring his opinion as fact.

So if billy is intolerant of our opinions he is a bigot. So I ask the question is he intolerant of our opinions? I am not intolerant of his or yours but I strongly disagree with calling Celtic fans bigots because they fly the Tricolour! Catch a grip - that is a moronic statement by anyone to make.

I feel that it is insulting and in no terms at all fair. You may well be ashamed with some members on the forum with their comments but take note of what has been said before you take sides AND understand what a bigot is and it most certainly is not flying a harmless flag.

That Was some Dictionary you got for christmas! What else did you get? Blinkers?

The point I was trying to make was, that if you read the thread it was our lot that started to get narky. I love Celtic, Scotland, and Ireland. I love the mix of Scottish, English and Irish Supporters that attend games.

However for people to make some of the silly statements that they have in this thread is laughable.

Your definition of a bigot is spot on. An opinion was expressed which started this thread. And a number of Celtic fans were intolerant of this opinion. They were insulting to the person that expressed this opinion.

He was told to * off, He was told he was wrong. You put it right by using word like "I feel...." You were correctly expressing your opinion. However not everyone in this thread was as fair.

When I said this thread was anti scottish, I feel I was justified. Just one eample is:
"i'll bring a scotland flag when scottish fans stop singing rangers songs and when they respect other countries national anthems"

I am a scotland fan and I for one have never sang a rangers song in my life!

Another "If I want to see more scotland flags then I would go to a Scotland game, why dont you?"

Why should we, Would it be fair to say If you want to see more Ireland flags go to an Ireland game? You would be hung Drawn and quatered for saying that on here.

I could go on all day, but I wont as so many of you are totally on the defensive and don't properly read the threads before you post.
