    YNWA! gets me every time!
i am scottish my family descended from ireland i have a tri colour with the celtic badge in the middle, who would take an issue with that? i also have a tatoo on my chest with both flags and the club badge, the reason......that is celtics background and they are the club i love. I hate the national team as its treatment to celtic legends was unforgivable and the huns pull out when they see fit and stroll back in when they can be arsed its a * sham our national team!! i am proud of my scottish past but not so much other parts of the country and its past but thats my own personal issue which brings me to my point, bring whatever flag you want i will always bring my tricolour and that will never change as its celtic colours and what im used to and i hate the national football team

I have no problem with our huge Irish support and Irish roots, its part of what makes us Celtic and having such a huge and diverse fan base can only be considered as a positive. I have absolutely no problem with people waving Irish flags at Celtic Park, or any other flag for that matter!

However it does annoy me when Irish supporters claim that Celtic are an Irish club. This shows a total lack of respect for the Scottish fans IMO, considering we play in and represent Scotland, not Ireland.

As for "Plastic Paddies". If someone has no Irish connections or roots in the family, has never visited Ireland in their life but goes on about how great the country is and even considers themselves Irish, then they are a Plastic Paddy; and if they find that offensive, then deal with it! Its nothing to do with supporting this football club. Its about pretending to be something and someone your not.

If someone has no Australian connections or roots in the family, has never visited Australia in their life but goes on about how great Australia is and even considers themselves Australian, then they are the Australian equivalent of a "Plastic Paddy".

To be fair not many Irish people say that, one or two maybe but the majority know and accept its a scottish club with Irish roots.

Well for starters it's not just Irish supporters who believe that we are an Irish club playing in Scotland. Billy McNeill isn't Irish, and neither am I......... I'm pretty sure our greatest ever Captain means no disrespect to Scottish Celts. And neither do I. We don't represent Scotland at all, our club represents our supporters (of all creeds and nationalities) not the bigoted backwater that is Scotland.

I can honestly say I have never ever seen anyone pretend that they're Irish, that's just a throwaway comment that I see from huns. There's a massive difference between flying a Tricolour and singing Irish songs to actually pretending that you are Irish.

This arguments been done to the death simple answer imo anyway is both flags should be at Celtic Park i'm Scottish first and foremost but deeply proud of my Irish roots like yer man said above it's what seperates us from other teams.

To the guy who was saying Kenny was ignored by Scotland he's the most capped player in Scotlands history ffs :56:

Bit strong but personally I think club football is not the place for national anthems or flags. That is what your countries international games are for.

The Irish themselves use and probably invented the term plastic paddies. I have heard Irish people use it a lot for wannabee Irish from America and England. I certainly first heard the term in Ireland and that was 20-odd years ago, long before I heard it regularly in Britain.

I agree but you could extend that to all nationalistic stuff. It doesnt belong in club football and should be only at international games. I think too many people use Celtic, a club football side, for international football style displays of nationalism. Save that stuff for international games.

In your opinion, of course :50:

Those who feel differently can bring whatever flag they wish to the game.

celtic to a significant amount of fans is about much more than football. Its about identity, and identity is an important factor of peoples lives. :celt_2:

Most native Scots yes, but the majority of Catholics in this country have come from Ireland (much like my own family). However, I'm not trying to turn this into a religion debate. I just think you may have misunderstood what I was meaning :50:

You're stating that as if it is fact. It's not, its your opinion. I and many others have a different one.
