One of the things I have been saying and am very much in favour for a while now is that social media companies need to be held to account and to the same legal standards as a TV station a radio station, paper etc. Those media could not get away with and rightly so with proliferating hate and deliberate lies and misinformation designed to enhance hate without being sued into oblivion. Social media companies should be held to the same legal standards.

A very useful thread on how racist wanks fanned this incident to create tension. If these people are OK to smash up the city due to rumours on the Internet it makes for very dangerous days ahead for anyone not white, anti-racist/fascist activists etc.

There's thousands of modular homes getting thrown up all over Ireland at ridiculous prices to house them. They are all claiming they are from the Ukraine yet most are as black as your boot. The system is getting abused to the max and the politicians are in the gravy train taking cheques from Europe, the IMF for it. Now some reading this will think it's racist of me but it is what it is. As I've said before, I have no issues with my taxes helping those in real need. I'd actually go out of my way to help people fleeing a war. But the majority of them are all unvetted males from Africa and eastern Europe. Anyone who posts anything on social media about it gets there videos deleted or banned. I don't care if you think it's bullshit but it's happening. While your at it, google mouldar homes Ukraine Ireland. I know I might sound like a right wing Tory but we have to draw the line at some point and actually vet everyone that's coming in if there's any suspicion of them not from the Ukraine. And how anyone can get on a plane on one country but soon as they land here with lost documents, they get let in and accommodated is a * joke.

Even that lunatic who stabbed them kids was an immagint, has previous for stabbings here and was never deported. How would you feel if that was your child stabbed by one of them. Our women are getting killed, men murdered and now kids getting stabbed. It's happening all over Ireland and yet some are still ok with bringing them all here. It has to stop.

I think our government has signed up for something ridiculous numbers to take in over a million or something in the next few years. We can't house our own. There's 13k now homeless in this country. Our health service is the worst it's ever been. The worst housing crisis ever in Ireland a d here we have our government opening the floodgates and putting more pressure on us.

You just have to look at Sweden, Germany and other eu countries at the mess they are in because of it. Ireland is a ridiculously small county under so much strain from previous government policies that has * us.

Someone mentioned the Irish are all * off to oz and Canada. No they ain't! Yes they have emigrated but most would prefer to stay in Ireland around there own familes but the economic situation and housing crisis has made them see sense and start a new life elsewhere. Yes we might have full employment but that doesn't give a true reflection of what's really going on. This country is in a bad way and only going to get worse.

As for the rioters. Again, see my previous post. This was always going to happen. I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened sooner for the way this country is in such a mess. Young men with no hope are always going to blow a gasket at some point. This isn't me agreeing with what they did but I totally understand it.

Was actually going to post something similar, in a separate thread.

Been here for years, and there’s been a gradual shift to the right over that time. It used to be that someone of the far-right would stand out a mile off, but I reckon it’s a much more even split now, with plenty not even recognising that they’re right wing on numerous social issues (I think economically, it’s still very left leaning). Some flat out refusing the tag despite being a near caricature of someone on the far right.

I actually don’t have an issue with someone believing in right wing social policy, even if I don’t agree with it. It’s the conspiracy stuff that it goes hand in hand with, that kills discussion, and often entire forums.

 

I understand that you don’t agree with his views on this but you can’t be making posts full of insults and threats like this Sean. You know that
