While it is clear there is a serious issue with legal , illegal and asylum migration cases across Europe…

… there is something ‘beyond ignorant’ and ‘beyond irony’ about Irish people having an ‘Ireland for the Irish’ approach..

… a nation that itself has spread across the world as immigrants in times of need… and to the benefit of those nations travelled to.

I suppose it just displays the sheer empty- minded ignorance of those who not only don’t recognise this … but use a tragedy as an excuse for brazen civil disobedience.

It didn't take long for a post like this. I sort of agree with you but if you knew everything what is going on here you'd soon change your mind. It isn't as simple as the Irish have emigrated globally so we have to sit back and open our borders. The country is getting swarmed with young men with no back checks on them from all over African countries along with eastern europe. There's some been identified as being on the run from African.countries for murder and other horrific crimes yet are housed up in Dublin hotels under different names and are free to roam the streets without a care in the world. How would you feel about someone like this from an African country where they take no regard for any laws along with raping women and young girls at will. How would you feel about them being around your children or misses.
Just last week one was sentenced for murder of a school teacher who was out in a run along a river last year. Stabbed her to death. Actually butchered her.

Another case not far from me up in Sligo. A young lad went on a rampage killing gay men and seriously harming a few others blinding one. He set up a profile on a dating website, met them and done whst he done.

These aren't isolated cases. Stabbings, murders and all other crimes are on the rise from these. What's your take on this.

You keep specifying African countries for some reason as of we ahold automatically be wary of them but the murderer of ashlyne Murphy was from Slovakia.

The political establishment in Ireland and even in the UK have failed to get a grip of the immigration issue and when you see kids getting stabbed in the street of course people will get angry as they feel not safe in their city .
But they should be aiming their anger at the government in power and the worry for me is look what's happening in so called liberal Holland where the far right freedom party won the most seats and can see this being a domino effect in other European countries.

Indeed. I have no sympathy for the scumbag, but I do for the innocent people caught up in this.

Irish emigrated for many reasons. My birth mother brought me to be raised in Scotland, as she was an unmarried mother for example. The church in Ireland made up to $50 million in forced adoptions, by selling babies to America, so in a way forced emigration was still happening in the 20th century.

It is something we need to learn from, especially before targeting people who were forced to leave their homelands, because the Irish church and state, operated together by forcing many of its citizens abroad.

Did you not read the part Eastern European?

And yes I do say African countries. Have you been following what's been going on recently? There are thousands of African men who are here claiming to be from the Ukraine who are throwing away there passports as soon as they arrive in Ireland. Do you ever ask yourself why they are doing this if they are legitimately seeking refuge from the was in the Ukraine. It's not so black and white as yous think it is.

Also, there's a local hotel here in Mayo. I would take the misses and kids here for dinner. The owner has now closed down the events hall and turned into a refugee accomodation now. Over the last number of months when I've been up there with the misses and kids, all were seeing is African men hanging around the grounds of it. No women or children to be seen! Ask yourself why these men are fleeing wars without there families. It's similar all over Ireland. Bus loads of them and no women or children to be seen..

I'm all for helping those that are actually fleeing a war. Fs we ourselves used to receive help during the troubles however what's happening here in Ireland now is getting exploited from men all over Eastern Europe and Africa which doesn't sit well with the majority of us while are own are sleeping on the streets and getting evicted. Where's the fairness in this. We've been getting told there's no money to help the homeless here in Ireland yet there's billions now put aside to house and feed these eastern Europeans and Africans.

With all that said, what's your thoughts on those that are here claiming asylum yet are throwing away there documents claiming to be from other countries. Very interesting to here others thoughts on this too rather than just attacking the poster.

It's happening all over Europe. It is people looking for a better life, they are exploiting the asylum system to do it. You don't have to be far right to be fed up with that. The scale it is happening is staggering. I don't agree with the violence last night but I understand it. A child or children being attacked like that will trigger a reaction at the best of times, never mind under the tension that already exists.

Also the Irish who emigrated all over the world, I don't think they were put up in hotels and given 3 meals a day?. The comparison is ridiculous.

Of that were true I would like to look into reasoning as to why I've not witnessed it myself to be honest. Nit saying you're lying but I'd be sceptical tol shown otherwise. Also not understanding how African even would portray themselves as Ukrainian at all.

If what you say is true why do you think the men come bit not the women or children?

Thing is though, there are plans to massively increase immigration...Ireland is a poor country without many jobs so why do they want to bring in more people? Also, anything that goes against the Great Reset narrative is instantly labelled far right - people who went on anti lockdown marches in London (old ladies and children) were labelled 'far right', everything is now 'far right'...but the more that term is used, the more it loses its impact..

Ireland is far from a poor country anymore(take note those who think Scotland is too small to be independent)

Every business in Ireland seems to be looking for staff. Pubs and restaurants always looking, try getting a plumber or electrician or even some to cut trees. Hospital and nursing homes always hiring from Asia and Africa.

    https://businessplus.ie/news/talent-shortage-hiring/

Four in five Irish companies are struggling to attract talent as Ireland endures its worst talent shortage for 17 years, the latest ManpowerGroup employment outlook survey shows.

Some 408 employers from across Ireland were asked for the survey if they intend to hire additional workers or reduce the size of their workforce in the coming quarter.

The national hiring outlook for Q2 is +22%, down three points from Q1 and eight points year-on-year, with 81% of employers having difficulty finding skilled talent, the highest figure on record since the survey began.

The transport, logistics & automotive sector reports the greatest difficulty finding talent (+90%), followed by energy & utilities (+88%), and health care & life sciences (86%).

“Businesses in Ireland are experiencing the worst talent shortage on record.” said John Galvin, managing director of ManpowerGroup Ireland.

Ireland is struggling for ‘talent’ because so much of it * off to the U.K. or elsewhere across the world…

… which again, leaves me cringing at the ‘Ireland for the Irish’ banner being flown by opportune groups.
