it wasnt a detailed movie ,more arty farty scenes involving heavy violence and very boring long drawn out scenes where there is no speech ,just footage of boring mundane things

you might like it mate , we all have our own tatses , it wasnt terrible , id watch it if i was you , its not a film to really want to watch again

If I feel that I've wasted a couple of hours of my life after watching it, you're still getting the blame then, because you're still saying watch it and now I feel as if I have to, just in case it's good. :icon_mrgreen:

Downloading it now...Heard there is one of the biggest talking scenes between Sands and a Priest to ever feature in a movie.

Dunno if im looking forward to this one or not judging some of the comments said about it on here.

Ok, I've just watched this, and I agree it's pish.

It wasn't the artistic element that put me off, in fact I thought the way it was done was quite effective in emphasising just how much time these men had on their hands and how the lack of anything meaningful to do impacted on their state of mind when they were imprisoned - the moment with the fly for example, or burning the bible pages for instance - captured the essence of tiny moments that might have happened trying to keep your mind occupied in such monotonous isolation. :50:

But there was a lack of coherence to the picture, it was ephemeral and the plot was trace at best - there wasn't enough dialogue to develop any meaningful attachments to the characters in what is, lets face it, a political film - outside of what you already took in with you when you put the film on in the first place. A political film, one like this anyway, should be full of dialogue. I felt that the violence shown by the guards towards the prisoners was more a vehicle for my pity towards them rather than nurturing any sense of political outrage.

So whilst I feel the emphasis on the monotony of improsinment was well done, it was totally wrong for this film.

    A total let down. I give it 4/10. :38:
