    Stiliyan Stan Petrov.

    That number stood wherever he played
    And in that minute, thousands prayed
    No silence but applause from fans
    Throughout the world for Stan The Man.
    At Villa Park tears filled his eyes
    The next day it was Paradise
    Where sixty thousand sang his name
    And banners flew throughout the game.
    Respected by his peers and foes
    We remembered days not long ago
    Where this humble man, so proud, upright,
    Loved to wear the green and white.
    He never stopped, he’d run all day
    In his own peculiar, lunging way
    A midfield ace with workman’s flair
    Who battled hard but battled fair.
    He loved a scrap and loved a fight
    Our 19 fought for all that’s right
    His goals would grace the greatest show
    And we were sad to see him go
    Though not as sad as we feel now
    As Stan was dealt a hammer blow
    He’s battling now a force unseen
    His diagnosis unforeseen.
    * bless you Stan, you’re in our prayers
    Let your family share our thoughts and cares
    If * exists, let it be seen
    And cure our Stan who wears 19.

    The season ahead

    IMHO NL needs to strengthen our defense before anything else. Having watched our German exploits, we barely looked awake. I know everyone will say that friendlies mean nothing but they are all we can gauge the pre season form by. I think that Blackman, Murphy, Wilson, Toshney are just not up to standard, (Murphy looked burnt out after 30 mins play), even against the average and aptly named Stuttgart Kickers. I think that we need to keep both Ki and Vic unless really big offers come in. Glad Forster signed as he was one of the few who seemed sharp in the Aalen friendly. Big, quick CB with a bit of experience is a must as I think Rogne would improve even more. Ciani would be great but I think he will go elsewhere. Never really been a Sammy fan as too inconsistent. I know that Stokes has his off days but you can't argue with the Hooper partnership goals last season. Only thing is, another Hartson or Sutton would give us another dimension. Sorry to ramble on but I think that this squad work wonders with a few key additions for CL progression.

    My name is scott and i stay in Queensferry just outside Edinburgh.Was a season ticket holder from 2005-2009.Been to half a dozen games a season since i gave it up but just purchased my ticket for the dons game next week!
