I think jhimbhoab covers most of it above. From my own experience from both sides of the desk I would suggest the following:

1.) Suit up! That is a no-brainer, even for IT!
2.) As many have said before, do a bit of company research and use this to answer questions such as "why do you want to work here/what can you bring to the company?"
3.) Remember they are there to sell you the job as much as you are there to sell yourself. Have questions ready to ask - good one will cover future chances for progression, what makes working there so good against competitors, direction of the company, culture of the company, etc. Remember they want to find someone good as much as you want the job. An inteview is a two way process.
4.) If you are asked a techincal answer that you dont know the answer to then just say "I have never heard of that". Then ask what the answer is and move on. I think this shows a willingness to learn and more character than just waffling nonsense.
5.) Be cool. An interview is just a game. You have to jump through hoops just as they have to jump through hoops. But it is just a chat and if you dont get it you dont get it. Ask for feedback if you dont get it and move on. I am one of the few weirdos who actually enjoy interviews as I just see them as a game to beat. Many people dont give themselves a chance by being so nervous from the second they walk into the room.

    Good luck :50:

He said he has never been for an interview, and has no knowledge about them - hence his questions.

Common sense maybe, but some people just genuinely don't know about these things:50:

Just look nice. Don't have to be formal, just don't look like you're on your way home from the pub.

Or just see what people who work there are wearing, and wear that.
