Same team as last Thursday. The only change I'd consider is Guidetti, but I'd rather Griffiths ran them ragged for 65 before bringing him on. GMS was one of the best players on the park last week and shouldn't be dropped for Commons. Commons is too slow and ineffective in Europe (my opinion only of course.).

 

I agree with the whole post, but commons did score 2 goals at the weekend and played very well...

Can someone confirm that Van Djik is eligible to play tonight, seen conflicting reports. Some say him & Brown are 1 yellow away from suspension. Others saying he is suspended.

This is the team I'd go for, I was unsure about Armstrong but he offers so much going forward. It's absolutely essential he offers cover for Izzy though.

In all seriousness, this would be my team as well. The only head scratcher in my opinion, from the team that played last Thursday, is Griffiths or Guidetti. I would be inclined to go with Guidetti tonight though.

 

Stokesy on the bench! No Commons in that team either, which is unusual for me. Very good options to have on the bench.

I think Guidetti offers more at this level, we can always bring the likes of Griffiths or Forrest on to run at tired legs, they've been complaining about how many games they've played lately and I think we looked far fitter than them last week outside of Shaqiri, who still has Pep levels of fitness.

 

So excited for tonight. I know how we can be after the optimism we normally balls it up. But if we dont mess it up in the first 20 mins why can't we take the game to them?
It's one of those ties where if we get put out it's expected...just want to give a good account of ourselves first and foremost. Who knows, we might actually have luck on put side tonight.
Can't fall into the typical European trap of giving away needless freekick (questionable ones at that). Keep it calm and play our game.

I think our biggest mistake tonight could be bring Commons back in.

 

I think this could be a big factor tonight, and it's one of the reasons I want to see us play a high intensity pressing game. I think the the midfield you put up is our best option for playing that type way. I'm actually getting more confident as today goes on, not sure if that's a good thing though :smiley-laughing002:

 

Dont bet on footall but would like to see the odds for scorers etc .. can anyone post a link .. (just interested to see what the bookies think).

but I agree, if it aint broke dont fix it. we played well last time and Commons wouldnt be a like for like replacment for anyone so it would change the dynamic too much. I'd rather see how we look and bring him on if/when needed

Commons is brill', but slow, so I'd rather see GMS and Armstrong start.

This for me.

All but GMS, Armstrong and Guidetti all but guaranteed a place if fit.

 

No idea what team I'd choose, a few tough calls for Ronny to make. I'll be happy with whatever he goes for. Excited for tonight, surely it won't be quite as mental as the first leg. Initially I thought it might be, but might stick a bet on under 2.5 goals, can see it being cagey. Hope I'm wrong and we get another classic!
