What are chances of this appeal to CAS being successful? Seen various things on the internet saying Legia are 50-60% they will be successful here.

Personally cant see it. The whole argument buils down to you can break the rules, but 'common sense' is to be applied.

i would say 70/30 in Celtic favor.

Common sense could be used in certain circumstances, but the standard walkover rule throughout world football is 3-0 and that is if the player is even on match-day squad (stripped) so if CAS overturn the walkover result they cannot use common sense they have to detail why this is an exceptional case and 4 people not doing the paperwork right or people not reading the competition rules is not a willful reason for appeal to the walkover result.

plus can you imagine the legal consequences world wide to victims in similar situations with over 253 national football associations, CAS could cause world wide uproar within domestic and international football with a decision in legia favour.

I think the way Celtic have gone about it since the appeal results on thursday shows there is little to no hope of Legia being successful.

Maribor tickets didn't go one sale until Thursday, I think we were waiting on that appeal as it may have worked, but we are talking about Maribor like it is absolutely 100% going ahead,

If CAS reinstate Legia they will face action from Us, Aktoe and Maribor for changing their opposition at 2/3 days notice, and the Bulgarian boys who lost their seeding in the playoff round and ended up drawing Steau Bucharest, arguably the hardest team they cold have drawn.

Exactly Paul, regarding the other teams involved in this

    1. Celtic - We wouldn't get Visa's in time to go to Kazakstan (we cant appeal CAS decision neither can uefa, so if legia are in they are in neither celtic or uefa can do anything about it apparently.)
    2. Atkobe, i dont think will really care, maybe scouting but thats it.
    3. Ludogerts have already declared in Bulgarian media they will take legal action against legia should they get "their" seeding. (some celtic supporter on another forum lives there).
    4. Maribor have been planning for celtic and have spent money sending their guy over here for 4 days.

I can only see them succeeding with some kind of "moral victory" should it go in their favour on Monday. The formats are laid out, team travelling has been arranged for just about every team, pricing etc has been sorted. It's much too late to reverse the decision now. A bit of an extreme example but it's like someone being executed but a judge later down the line deciding that it wasn't the correct decision. Too late to go back now.

Like I said it will be some kind of moral, "we were right", victory which could well provide them with legitimate grounds to sue UEFA for compo or something along those lines. No matter the outcome though, whether it's in our favour or theirs, we will still be playing Maribor in this qualifier and they will still be playing in the EL qualifier.

I dont even see a moral victory the rules are clear worldwide "walkover results are 3-0" scorelines.

People take cold medications to unblock a nose etc when they train. This can have a banned substance and these people are kicked out. Is it fair a lemsip done that? No but that's the rules.

*, word on the street is that they're going to win this appeal apparently. I see according to Bündes Spört it looks quite likely.

It was the official looking umlauts in Bündes Spört that makes it authentic, right? :smiley-laughing002:

I was mainly surprised that you would get your information from a German or Scandinavian newspaper, but I thought you could not make a name up like that. Well played. :icon_mrgreen:

Over turning eufa decision at this late stage would open a can of worms.
Nearly all decisions would be pushed all the way to cas in future and would throw draws and teams plans into chaos.
