They can overturn it if they like but there is no way they will be getting back in the CL, far too late for that.

Celtic would go apeshit and rightly so. Training all week to play a certain team, having them watched and planning your tactics accordingly only to be told you are playing someone else entirely 4 days later?

If they did overturn it surely it would be monetary compensation and not reinstatement.

I'm sure other teams are affected as well if they let them back in, seeding for example.

"Uefa would have to abide by CaS's decision, and so could reinstate Legia to the Champions League if the court found in the Polish club's favour."

I I think this could still be bad news bhoys and girls a really didn't think CAS could overrule uefa decision!

Tbh a don't know what to think I think rules are rules but then will CAS think it's a too severe punishment and downscale it, quite sick fed up of it tbh

As far as I am aware CAS cannot now stop Celtic playing in the CL but what they can do is rule in favour of Legia despite UEFA's ruling and award compensation to Legia which UEFA would need to pay. CAS cannot now stop Celtic because plans from the Club, fans and Maribor will be in place. CAS cannot punish Celtic as we have done nothing wrong other than follow UEFA's rules and rulings :celt_2:

I wouldn't think CAS had the final decision but that article says they can reinstate legia if they want and uefa would have to abide by it

Thats what I was saying. CAS ruling has to be followed by UEFA, and it was obvious that UEFA by itself is not going to change their own decision. If they did then Celtic could appeal to CAS and now UEFA would be responsible for fixing it if CAS doesnt rule in their favor and paying compensations. Once CAS does the ruling, all UEFA does is say `sorry pals, it`s not our decision so * off`:D

Yeah, I am sure organization such as UEFA is going to pay tens of millions of euros of compensation instead of just kicking Celtic back to the Europa League qualification where they belong (based on football skills). And all because of some logistic troubles.....:smiley-laughing002:

I'd love to see what basis CAS would have to overturn UEFA's decision, as far as I can see there aren't any.

It would be wrong of Legia not to explore every avenue but in truth they're *.

This thread is EASILY the best of the year so far. The thread after Maribor play a suspended player will be even better :50:

Surely every club in world football that has ever been ejected from a cup competition for fielding an ineligible player will be knocking on CAS' door if they overturn the decision. Ignorance is no defence for not abiding by predetermined rules.

Suarez ruling has no relevance as there were no outlined punishments for biting a player and the subsequent ban was subject to scrutiny.

    Exactly. CAS said:

"The case and the question will be whether the fielding of a player who was apparently suspended would lead to the forfeiture of the game or not"

The answer is a resounding yes as it is written in the UEFA rule book so CAS cannot rule agains UEFA

Exactly. There is * all to worry about. They are more than *, and as someone else said - its normal that they are exploring every posibility to get in, and i love that because i find it very hilarious, and it keeps this thread alive for a few more days.

CAS are basically telling us what Legia's options are because some * from the media has called up and asked the question - hence it being in the public eye just now so I can only surmise it has come from Legia sources or anti Celtic sources making as much noise as possible
