yeah do not know how anyone can say that islam is older. mohammed lived about 600AD. christianity was originally a continuation of judaism until they stopped certain practices, and accepted gentiles.

Islam is from the 7th century. Its not anywhere near as old as Judaism.

I would like to ask a question, without opening new thread.
Can someone tell me the real meaning of Celtic Cross, and why does UEFA connect it with racism? Red Star were punished few years ago, because Delije (The Heroes, Red Star fans) showed flag with Celtic Cross ...
I know something about Celtic Cross, like High Celtic Cross can be found in Tynan, Armagh.

the celtic cross has been adopted (i.e hijacked) by Hitler, The Aryan Brotherhood etc as a symbol of the white race and it's Christian ideals

Hmmm ... just like they adopt swastika from budistic religion ... I saw once a Buda statue with their cross on it.

But to be fair to Sco-ire, if you dont believe the pope is any more than a symbolic head of a church then he is only a man. I am from a half catholic background and I think there is no way the pope is appointed by *. There have been too many crazy popes in the past for that to be true. Regardless, it is totally wrong to be delberately provocative and insulting to someone else's faith and those whom do it are serious retarded sad individuals. It is interesting that catholics dont generally hate protestants for their religion either in Scotland or Ireland. Its pretty much a one-way street.

Buddist shrines covered in swastikas are all over Japan. I almost bought a lantern there that was covered in swastikas. Thought it would give a shock to visitors if I put it in the house but then thought it was not a joke in very good taste.

The Celtic cross was invented about 1300 years ago by early christian monks in Ireland and Scotland. It is thought that the 1st one was made on the Scottish island of Iona by monks from Ireland. It was originally used on high stone crosses and many that are well over 1000 years old survive in Ireland and Scotland. They were revived a few generations back for modern gravestones mainly in the same areas and are used by catholics and protestants. They are still thought of as a symbol of Ireland and to a lesser degree Scotland and you would get T-shirts with them on. The connection with racism is only very very recent, I think maybe 20 years or something but not sure. I have no idea why the racists took the symbol.

First I have ever heard of a Celtic cross being considered a symbol of Nazism in the USA. Can't say that I have ever come across that here.
