Good player and think he would do well here . Sadly do not think we could match the wages on offer down south .

JAMES McARTHUR reckons Celtic will have to take on and beat England’s big guns to capture Hugo Rodallega.
Spurs wanted the Colombian in January and didn’t get him and now he is a free agent after leaving Wigan, competition for his signature will be fierce.
Hoops boss Neil Lennon has been linked with the 26-year-old even though his wage demands might be way outside the limits of the Parkhead budget.
But McArthur, who played alongside Rodallega for two years at the DW Stadium, would be pulling off a major coup if he snares the hitman.
Last night Scotland star McArthur said: “Hugo will always be a hero with Wigan fans for the goal against Stoke that kept us in the league two seasons ago. I was on the bench when he scored with a header and we won 1-0.
“He’s the club’s all-time leading scorer in the Premiership so the fans love him here and will be sorry to see him go.
“If he goes to Celtic I’m sure the supporters there would take to him too. Even when he was a sub last season, when he warmed up the fans would chant ‘Hugo, Hugo’. He’ll always be remembered for his contribution here.
“It’s no surprise he’s been linked with a lot of big clubs. Spurs have also been mentioned so it would be a real coup if Neil could tempt him to Celtic.
“He’s scored goals in the Premiership so there’s no doubt he would do the same in the SPL. No disrespect but the standard of defenders he’d be up against won’t be as good as down in England so he’d score a lot of goals in Scotland. Having played with him for two years, I know Hugo is capable of playing for one of the top clubs in England and I’d be surprised if they aren’t in for him this summer.
“He’s good enough to play for one of the top six in the Premiership so that’s what Celtic might be up against.”
Rodallega was signed by Steve Bruce in 2009 for £4.5million and is a regular for Colombia.
He has scored 24 goals in England’s top flight despite being a bit-part player last term after revealing he wanted to leave Wigan in January.
Lennon would love to partner Rodallega with Gary Hooper – and McArthur is adamant that would be a potent combination.
He said: “Hugo will be fresh and hungry, ready for the challenge.
“He works hard for the team and has a knack of scoringspectacular goals. He’s really strong and can play the lone striker role as well as anyone.
“But he’s great as a second striker too and I’m sure that’s how Celtic would use him alongside Georgios Samaras or Hooper.
“He’d be the perfect foil for either of them, particularly Hooper who is a natural scorer. Those two together would be a lethal partnership for Celtic.”
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez paid tribute to Rodallega.
He said: “I don’t know if Hugo has another club lined up but he will go with our blessing. I can’t praise him enough for his attitude, he’s been very unselfish.
“Everyone will look at the time he had at the club as a success.”

Some of our fans think he's crap and Stokes is better yet everyone down south seems to have nothing but praise for him....and he's linked with top clubs.

    Funny that..

He seems like a.big bruiser kind of forward as well as quick and skilful. Im sure he could be the target man we need alongside Hooper.

What? the guy is hench. Im sure he could play that role. Im not sure about his aerial ability but he's a strong bloke that could hold up play and run with the ball.

Excellent, spend the money on the wages take a good season or two from him and punt him on.

He holds a higher resale value and is a bigger option to sell on, where Rhodes might only go to England, Hugo would be appealing to Italy and Spain too!

I think people over rate our players at times. Rodallega would be a good signing and i would rather him than Rhodes who is untested at the highest level.

Agreed. Teams down south wouldn't take Stokes over Rodallega....and perhaps not even Hooper.

I think he'd be alright and would do a reasonable job. I think he'd want massive wages (compared to our average) and for some reason I have it in my head he's a bit of a moaner.
    I don't think we'll go for/get him anyway.
