Have the feeling it’ll be someone like this for 12 months loan then Tierney on a free next summer

I would be delighted if there was an option to buy, or a realistic chance of a long term loan.

But his club have already knocked back Norwich, and the reportage is claiming they've no desire to let him leave, even on loan.

Someone else earlier in the thread already said his club wouldn't be accepting anything under than 20m for a permanent switch.

So rather than taking 6-8m out of the tens of millions we have sitting there, going out and signing a young hungry LB for half decent league, we're trying to hand Wolves a massive loan fee, plus his wages, to find ourselves in this exact same position come next season.

It's farcical imo, and utterly incompetent.

Perhaps they knocked back Norwich bcoz they don't see any advantage to loaning him to the championship.

If story is true and we are in discussions but still to agree a deal, that would suggest they are happy to send him to us and it's more to do with fee/wages now.

Far more advanvtagis sending him to us where he'll play for a massive club, play champions league and win trophies than it is going to * Norwich.

I do agree tho that with our financial position we should be looking to sign a long term solution target than develop a player for wolves but that's our club in a nutshell

Same for me. Get the position sorted at least for the season ahead, it's better than starting the season with just GT and the youth. Loan to buy would be preferable ofc but it is what it is.

Wonder if we are getting encouragement from player/agent regarding this but Wolves are still needing to be convinced.

Surely unless their no.1 Left back is getting sold and they promise him taking over as no.1 your pushing for a move to get a full season under your belt somewhere on loan at least then re evaluate next year. Wouldn't be against no LTB as he looks like he'd come in and make and instant impact and that's what we're after in a problem position

    Unfortunately KT is a crock.

On a free then it would make more sense though aye. But his injuries just don't seem to be going away.

I know nothing about him but I'll take him.

Hoping we get a cheeky buy clause in their. Those are the deals I love the most.

We simply don't need to be that desperate with 5 weeks left of window.
I get the almost febrile clamour for new LB, but we should be just as diligent on this as any other new player.
If reports are right, we are potentially going to spend a load of cash on a short term loan and as @LectersLuncheon said, we are back to square one next season.

If it's loan to buy with a pre agreed fee we are actually prepared to pay, then it makes sense.

No slight on the guy at all, but as a club, it's pretty poor we are (potentially) looking at a loan deal for someone we wouldn't even be able to have a buy option on.

We've had literally 2 years knowing this position was badly needing filled! We've had 6 weeks of this window now open, with about 5 left to go.

The club surely can't only be able to find a loan deal for such an important and long term problem area? Our answer is to kick the issue down the road again?

Just find this approach absolutely mental from the club.

    What's mental about it?

If we get the guy in, we've got at least one full season with an upgrade on Taylor, and someone who's been a Premier League player considerably at least for the last season gone by.

We cannie afford to spend £20m (or whatever) on LB's.

No one is asking for £20m to be spent on a player though.

I'd like to have thought after all this time of such an obvious position needing filled, we'd be further along than scrambling for a loan deal for a player we would very likely not have a buy option on.

Kicking the can down the road until Tierney gets to an affordable price as his contract winds down

Reports saying Wolves are open to the deal providing there's a guarantee of game time.

Semd them a highlights video of Taylor then and that should clinch it

We need the squad to be as strong as possible to give us the best chance of success, if that means a few loans with no option then so be it, it's just a symptom of where we are at as a club. Would we prefer an inferior player that is long term?

Celtic fans: "we demand a signing!"

Media "Celtic linked with Premier Leage LB"

Celtic fans "Fantastic, we've needed an upgrade on Taylor for ages.

    Media "LB is a loan"

Celtic fans "this is a disgrace. * Peter Lawwell!!!"

Honestly, without intentionally sounding like a smarmy *, but do some of you lot not get tired of moaning????

    I do, surprisingly yeah :56:

But as you paint the picture there, the rumour starts good, then you find out it's a loan, without and option and now potentially would have time dictated to us.

We can do better recruitment than being wolves * and developing their talent for their own profit.

Loans with no buy option can be incredibly frustrating though.. as we're seeing with Idah..

If they are successful then that type of player can become beyond our reach..
