How to study for an English prelim/exam?

Do past papers for the close reading. It's here where you can get easy marks which will come in useful if the questions in the 2nd paper don't suit the book/poem which you studied in class.

I managed to get a B in Higher English by downloading the audiobook, listening to that once, and watching the film twice. I also looked at the key scenes and made mind-maps about the main characters.

i'm sure there's another one but i cant remember!

 

only one ive done of those is old woman, its not the most cheery thing ive ever read. i always found it easier to write essays on poems than the great gatsby, which was dire.

if you want to do an essay on old woman then just remember the poem and annotate the poem with information about each line that you will need to write the essay then read it several times to make sure you know what each line means. also look at different types of essay questions you can do for the poem and plan each of them, writing out the essay helps but i dont really remember doing much of that and it didnt matter.
