He is a 5-7 million pound player in todays market with the potential to possibly be a 7-10 million pound player if he can score goals consistently in Europe.

Hamburg might pay £10m for him or other mid table Bundesliga.

Griffiths is easily in the Between £10 million and £15 million category when you consider what Villa paid for McCormack £12m

He's worth about £3-4M if we're being honest.

Scottish football just doesn't hold any water anywhere no matter what you do in it in this day and age.

He hasn't proved himself at a higher level consistently in the same way Hooper did who was top scorer in the English Championship (A level Griffiths didn't even get trusted to play at never mind score in) at 21 years old for Scunthorpe and also scored in big games for us in Europe in the CL and away against sides like Udinese. He also had much more attributes to his overall game than Griffiths. Yet he only went for £5.5M (Main reason being he was in last year of his contract), pretty sure Norwich offered us £8M the January before he left but we rejected it to keep him for last 16 against Juve.

Look at Adam Rooney, a guy who's only a couple years older than Griffiths and now in his prime years, plays for an inferior team in Aberdeen compared to ourselves so hence create less chances up front for him than we do with Griffiths per match. Yet Rooney still manages to get 25-30 goals in all competitions domestically in Scotland. Tbf to Rooney as well he's also got 11 goals in Europe under his belt for Aberdeen plus he has scored goals in the English Championship (Albeit not many) that Griffiths hasn't.

Now if I was to ask on this forum what you felt Adam Rooney was worth in the market there's no way people would be saying £10M+ and would be laughed at. They'd be saying things like £500k-1M tops if that if they're being honest.

That's because he's proved himself consistently in a much tougher league than our own scoring loads of goals for relegation fighting clubs in the Championship. Plus the money down there is obscene, if they see a player proven at that level then they'll * a load of cash on him in the hope he can either keep them from getting relegated from the championship or most likely as he is now help them in their pursuit of him scoring enough goals to get them promoted to the EPL where the real silly money is, then drop him like a hot potato due to the EPL being too high a level for him.

So do you think Rooney is a better striker than Griff?

Minimum 10. We'd need at least 6/7 or so to replace his goals and that's no guarantee..

Hooper scored against Udinese at Europe League level.

Griffiths has scored at Europa league level, just like Hooper.

When did Gary Hooper score 40 goals in a season for us?

    Clown.

    Difficult really.

He is worth a lot to us due to the fact he is proven in Scotland. Pretty invaluable in terms of being a guaranteed 25-30 goal a season player.

Question: who is the better player, Leigh Griffiths or Teemu Pukki? They were born within a few months of each other BTW.

Hes worth more than £4m tops you have stated. Your view on his valuation is partial as you have used England as a geographical proximity, Rooney, Hooper etc.

The Board sets the valuation when negotiating, not England. Using there context is irritating.

We should execute him because he misses chances.

Been thinking about this more, judging what teams down south pay for strikers, then if a liverpool, city, arsenal came knocking then I would demand 20+ from them.

Now, if he goes on to score 30+ goals again this season, and 4 or 5 of them are in the champions league, then seriously we should get his contract renewed again and he certainly should not be sold for less than 20million
To knock in over 30 goals two years running and do it in the champions league is worth top dollar regardless of the league. Specially when you see what other players go for.

Christ some epl strikers struggle to get double figures and go for that sort of value.
