Mc Geady needs to take his head out his own * , if he could just work on his game and learn to cross a ball and strike at goal he could well go on to be 10/15million player . but right no hes around 4/5 mill .

All the best players in the world work on there skills , he works too much on his foot work and tricks and not enough on the final ball , look back to Ronaldo when utd signed him it never took Fergie long to get him to cut the * around out and work on the important parts of his game

I like having him in our team.

He had a poor year last year and people are being way too harsh on him. Think back to the season before when he stepped up and created more or less every one of our chances. He was incredible.

Maybe Strachans man-management didn't help him last year, but his attitude didn't help him either.

I think he will be a big player for us again this year.

Hey guys 1st post so go easy on me :56:

id just like to say i feel some of the criticism on mcgeady is a bit harsh. id rate him currently in the 8m bracket but feel that figure could easily rise after this season.
Some people seem to slate his end product and say how he doesnt show it on the big occasions.

Firstly, i feel most people make such judgements mostly on last season were i will admit he was poor by his standards, however i feel this would obviously be linked to his dispute with strachan.

Secondly, i feel people seem to forget some of the pieces of brillance produced by mcgeady in previous seasons, the man of the match performance against benfica, last seasons cis cup final were he ran the length of the field in the final minutes and drew the foul for the penalty before having the confidence to take the penalty to seal the game, his turn at pittodrie for the mcdonald header. (the best piece of individual skill in recent seasons in my opinion).

Also i feel people forget that almost every game mcgeady plays he has at least 2 men marking him, and to his credit manages on most occasions beats his man. mcgeady is celtics outball on most occasions. when the defence is in trouble he is given the ball 2 carry from defence. he is also playing in an environment were most people are waiting on him making a mistake, ie the media, opposition fans and now even some of our own fans i feel are starting to not apreciate his talent.

Aiden Mcgeady is a special talent, one of a few left in scotland due to the money in scottish football. I guarantee given this season under mowbray that he will flourish and everybody will be praising him once more.

Hope that wasnt too long winded lol

    Hail Hail

He was * before the dispute.
He's not the only player to get double-teamed. Especially not last year.

Celtic can't afford to play players just because they were great 2 years ago. As the last 2 seasons have shown, every single game and goal matters and we can't be wasting time on a player if he's not going to produce.

Firstly do you only believe the dispute started when it became public. i can assure you it had been going on for a long time and tommy burns convinced aiden to withdraw a transfer request in jan 07 after the dundee utd game.
Secondly, watch any major game we played with mcgeady in the team last season, ie the old firm matches. steve davis was man marking mcgeady in each one. the game mcgeady gets dropped for maloney and DAVIS scores after maloney fails to track bak.

I didnt think the cis cup final was 2 years ago. and the people who are slagging mcgeady off jus nw are the same people who slagged off brown a few seasons ago and are nw praising him.

As i said in my original post, mcgeady should be given the chance to prove himself given a fresh start, which i am sure he will.
look at his performances last year for ireland under a manager he respected compared to his celtic performances last year.

I think that proves my point.

Of course it started long before it went public. It probably started when Gordon told McGeady to stop acting like a prima donna and get to work.

Football is a "what have you done for me lately" sport. What has McGeady done lately? He hasn't done anything in over a year.

Ideal solution would be for him to actually work on his shooting and crossing, but given his attitude last year ... I'm not holding my breath.

do u not then agree that a dispute with a boss would affect a person in any profession and this could obviously be attributed in some way.

i agree thats exactly what it is, so did u want boruc dropped last season after his mistakes, a guess youd have also wanted caldwell dropped during his rb days and what exactly has maloney done to make him so much better than mcgeady. and for that matter what did maloney do last season when he returned after realising he had made a big mistake by turning his back on the club.

I feel aiden will work hard on his game as he is working under a coach he respects now. If you look back when mcgeady had a good working relationship with strachan he worked to improve his upper body strength and tracking back. and this was something that was praised by strachan at the time. as the relationship deteriorated mcgeady may hav tried less. nobody is going to work hard for someone they dont like.

only time will tell on this debate however i feel this will be mcgeadys most productive season in a celtic shirt.

    1. He was * before the dispute. The dispute getting blown out of proportion was down to both McGeady and Gordon acting like children at times. McGeady couldn't take the *deserved* criticism.

    2. Where did I say I wanted him dropped last year? I haven't even said I want him dropped this year FFS.

    3. Boruc was dropped for a bit... until we realized we had nobody else on the team that could do his job at all. We've signed Zaluska since. I wonder why.

    4. Where do I bring up Maloney in here? I haven't. You're bringing up Maloney. But if you really want to know. Included Naka so you can see that "one of these isn't like the others".
Be aware, most of this board agrees Naka and Maloney had * seasons. If we're being objective, that would put McGeady in the "* * IS THIS GUY DOING. NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR CELTIC QUALITY" category.

Utterly embarassing. 306m... that's not even once every 3 games.

    5. As already stated, ideal situation is Aiden grows the * up and learns how to actually shoot and cross.

    6. McGeady doesn't contribute enough to this team to cater coaches to him personally. He's not Ronaldo or Messi -- and even they don't get to pip their coaches. If McGeady has such an attitude problem that he can only work with certain coaches, maybe he should grow up and start acting like a Professional.

    1. i never said u wanted them dropped bt if its a "what hav u did for me lately" sport then ypu should hav wanted them dropped as they wouldnt hav done anything lately for you.

    2. zaluska has been brought in as backup. nothing more. the only way he will be number 1 is if boruc leaves as boruc has been 1 of our best players in preseason recapturing his best form after a certain mr strachan leaves. same as mcgeady will.

    3. nice little table of stats ther bt any intelligent person will knw that stats give an untrue view. stats would suggest that rangers were the best team in the spl last season. stats dont prove anything. i would also suggest that you research your table and maybe make it a bit more realistic as your variable for mins per involvement only counts goals and assists as involvement. so just because mcgeady didny play the final pass in a move means he wasnt involved. hmmm somehow i doubt it.

    5. the exact same could be said about scott brown whos shooting is awful and passing could improve at times.

    6. a coaches job is to coach the group as a whole and to coach 1 on 1 individually to get the best out of players, thats what makes a good coach. i never said mcgeady picks which coaches he wants to work 4. strachan is the only 1 he fell out with, and that signalled the worst spell in mcgeadys career. strachan fell out with a lot of players, boruc, doumbe, donati, sutton, thompson... finally just because he falls out with a coach means he has an attitude problem or is a bad player. sutton fell out with chelsea, bellamy at newcastle, cantona at man u.

i look forward to the end of this season when mcgeady shines and shows the player he can be.

lol, don't stick words in my mouth. We're not talking about last year. We're talking about now.

That's your opinion. If all we needed was a backup we'd be fine with Brown and the youth.

Stats don't show everything, but it's not a foreign concept that McGeady has no end product. In this case, the stats are just the final nail in that coffin.

Brown is a CM who often played DM under Strachan. Not even remotely comparable.

HAA !! one on one individually... what a load of pish. I stopped reading there. Very few managers (none) teach 1 on 1 at this level.

Nice to know you can predict the future now too. :56:
Living in the past... predicting the future. Just stick to the present if you will please.

wel wait and c then!! a look frwrd to postin 2 u at th end of the season!! shood b fun!! oh n btw a think ul find the best coaches do take players to one side n give them tips on ther game.

the fact u think zaluska will dislodge boruc shows how little u actually know!!

also on the stats part, if you wer to put a player such as nguemo etc in ur little table it would show that they wer almost never involved in a game according to calculation of ur stats!!

to me i think its pretty obvious u dnt go 2 many games and also feel u generally dislike mcgeady. maybe ur still bitter he chose the republic. i dnt knw.

hehe, and yes... I am just bitter he chose ROI over Scotland. :56:It really does me in!
