This other place was a wee hidden gem, round in the back lanes and the CD's were stacked floor to ceiling in some kind of organised chaos. You could lose yourself in the place for an hour easy.

I took the family down Byres Rd last summer, first time I had been down in over ten years and the wee record shop isn't there anymore, it's a clothes shop now. :54:

    Edit.

I don't even own a CD player anymore but still... :giggle1:

    Caffrey's was a cracking beer.

Haven't tried Caffreys, is that a smooth ale or lager too?

I'm all digital now to Uncle, used to be great going into record shops too, mind Missing Records? Go in there for half an hour before meeting mates and always come out with something.

I must say thought it is great having a giant record collection on my phone and computer. :party22:

Very smooth ale. Just checked and they've reduced it to 3.8%.

Missing Records, was that on Bath St or something like that? You went down the stairs into it?

Marc Smith had a cracking shop just off the saltmarket too.

Used to be 5.2% but they reduced the volume in order to combat falling sales. Mental!

I think their was two Missing Records. The one I went to was down the opposite side of the bridge that McDonalds is on, just round the corner from the Arches.

Mind there used to be loads of shops you that would buy and sell cds too? They'd offer you 50p for a CD and sell it for £5 o_O They were good for finding live bootlegs though. Crazy how big the record and cd industry was and now it's basically gone.

That's crazy, 5.2% is the perfect strength.

23rd Precinct that shop was called on Bath St.

Probably worth a thread of it's own.

Tower Records was impressive when it first opened but by * was it expensive.

Just before it closed they were charging 17 quid a CD!

Haha aye I think I bought a CD for £16 out of Tower, don't think I could get it anywhere else.

Was giant though and had everything didn't it. 23rd Precinct! Brilliant. Everything was random so it was a real treasure hunt.

HMV was giant too. Jeez oh everyone had a cd or record player. Used to be book shops too  TV repair shops are away as well now. All the pubs and nightclubs are shutting down. Everyone is getting bevvied in the house more often, don't need to go to the pub to watch football now. Toon will soon be deed. Phone Boxes anaw :giggle1:

Does anyone remember bands used to play a few songs from the upper windows of Tower and later on from the huge Virgin Records on Union St?

I remember being in Glasgow one weekend and stumbled on Bon Jovi hanging out the upper windows of Tower Records while thousands of * lined the street.

Toons already deed most of the time anyway! I went in last Sunday and Monday and everywhere was empty. chargin 3.30 a pint of Tennents nowadays in city centre, it is no wonder. Even Friday nights places seem a lot more quiet to even 5 years ago.

Odd, at the brewery I worked at the ales with the lower percentages were the ones in the decline, whereas those 4.5% and above were the most popular and had the best sales.

People get paid to tell you these things though.

A four year study at Glasgow University has claimed that drinkers enjoy higher percentage alcohol.
