Did someone not say a season ticket at the emirates is around £1000, almost double the price of Parkhead, plus they have a whole tier of executive tickets I'm sure which are even more expensive.

then the food and drink would be a lot more expensive down there.

All of that with the more games would make up the difference.

Can you tell I'm bored when I actually checked those figures for you :56:

Mate, the Everton team was absolute *.
Btw, Arsenal tried thier hardest, and will be absolutely exhausted for the game on tuesday. Did I forget to inform you that Arsenal is not a world class team. Celtic are a bigger team than Arsenal.

compare arsenal's acheivements in the past 25 years to celtics, and then take into account that arsenal usually have a much tougher opposition than celtic

not trying to be negative about celtic, but that comment is just a pile of steamy horse * :87:

I see, we English are so "superior" the Arsenal team is stuffed with England Internationals is it? LOL, I dont think so! The reason that they are a good side(fact) is because Arsenal can invest their Premiership "booty" in some of the best players around. On paper they are much stronger than us, it is up to our Bhoys on the night (especially at home) to make the most of our home advantage, try not to concede, then batton down the hatches at the Emarates in the 2nd leg.

What is the size of a football club based on? There is no defined way.

Are Man City bigger than both Celtic and Arsenal now because they have artificial wealth? For me, no chance. Any clubs foundations are their fans and we have plenty of them, some casual and a lot fervent. We are a massive club in a miniscule pond. Just ask someone with first hand experience of a big EPL club and Celtic in Martin O'Neill. His exact words were Celtic are a stagnant giant who would eventually become the biggest club in the world if we'd ever get onto the revenue streams of an EPL club.

Your figures are fabricated estimates and to suggest our worldwide following is 'small' is simply not true. Our media coverage in Japan alone took every Celtic game during Naka's time here to 128 million people.

Easy tiger, I said the figures were fabricated estimates not that you pulled them from thin air or made them up. Also don't try and slate me for (allegedly) making assumptions in one hand and then assuming I have done no research on the matter on the other, oh the irony :56:

I never once stated we have 128 million fans in Japan, I merely stated the fact that any game featuring Celtic throughout the entirety of Nakamura's stay here was broadcast back to Japan who have a population of 128 million.

To suggest we are poorly marketed is another non-truth. Our strips are taken globally by the biggest sports kit manufacturer the world has ever seen and coupled with our pre season tours we are breaking down new markets in North America and Asia, the 2 biggest growing football markets on the planet. Go into a sports shop in New York and you will find a Celtic strip, * go to the shop within the grounds of the Camp Nou and see who's strip sits beside Barca's.

Don't get your knickers in a twist when someone makes a relative point to counteract a false statement, which suggesting that worldwide Celtic have less than a tenth of the fanbase than Barca, AC Milan and Man Utd have in China alone, is.

I don't want to fight anyone, I am here to keep the peace not disturb it :50:

The reason you can buy Celtic strips abroad is due to the fact Nike have taken the product into shops in every country, state and city where they are operating. A sound marketing decision made by Celtic. The exact same as the other sound marketing decision in having games in Australia, Canada, America and everywhere in between during pre-season.

The Irish affiliation is one of the many reasons suggesting we have 9 million fans worldwide is a fallacy. We may have 9 million fervent supporters that wear their heart on the sleeve every week but the amount of stagnant or casual fans with an affiliation to Celtic would dwarf that amount.

Which four countries are you unable to buy a Celtic strip?

If you can't find a Celtic strip in Sweden there is something far wrong mate! The greatest Swedish player of his generation spent 7 years wearing one.

    it´s so simple to say:

CELTIC IS (TO ME) THE BIGGEST CLUB IN THE WORLD, cause i love it to be part of a family who´s known throughout the world for their passionate and faithful support :celt_2: who cares about arsenal, manwho or chelski? money can´t buy my love :shamrock:

So your argument that Celtic has a smaller worldwide casual fanbase is based off the fact that you can't find jerseys in Sweden, Finland, and Estonia. :87:

Meanwhile, your argument for Chelski, et. al. is that they have fans in China -- ffs! Everybody has fans in China who don't know * and don't really give a flying fck about the team. Even JLeague has tons of fans in China -- and they hate Japs !!

    To Summarize:
ManUre, Chelski, Arsenelle are big because of random people in China
Celtic is small because of Sweden, Estonia, and Finland

I bet the front office is cringing over that one right now. How could they have failed to appeal to a total population of 17 mill dispersed across 3 very different nations that you just happen to be close to. Shocking!

what is a "fan" for you? a guy sitting on his couch watching any game of the epl and choosing his favorite club cause they have a compatriot in their squad?

i been to manchester for a testimonial a few seasons ago. we won 4-3 and there were about 35,000 celtic supporters for a friendly!!!! at old trafford.. that´s passion mate. imagine celtic playin in the epl..... we would have a billion fans in asia when they could see celtic supporters turning up in big numbers week in week out going crazy to sing out the english :shamrock:

His definition so far is even lower than that ! At least people with a "national hero" in the team have some kind of connection or emotional investment.
But he's arguing based on people who are just going with flavor-of-the-week bandwagons.

So you weren't saying anything about the marketing then ? Interesting.

"...as I can tell you there are no Celtic jerseys on sale in any of the four closest countries to me! Great marketing"

And to think you accuse me of not reading. That you aren't mentioning Chelsea jerseys in Scandinavia was half the point. You're only mentioning them in China -- of all places.
As for Chelsea -- you mentioned EPL presence in China. Correct me if I'm wrong, Chelsea is in EPL. Right, moving on then.

You've talked a lot about this "research" but yet to provide anything other than how your buddies in China corroborate it. Anecdotal evidence != research. If you have research feel free to offer it up.

    And Finally...

    3 points.

    1. Follow your own advice. If you have facts and figures present them, don't play this game of "I have research I have research I have research" without every showing it. Either you have research or you don't.

    2. It's interesting how you've avoided the entire debate about how to define a fan. Clearly that's going to come down to opinion -- but here you've presented it, repeatedly, as "fact" that you have "research" to back up.

    3. Follow your own advice. Cheers!
