I would say we've got a steal if that is the fee. He is an absolute rock in the air, Has won nearly every ball he's gone in for and completely bossed John Carew and Piquionne when we played West Ham. He's also a great ball player and fits in well with our passing game. I am extremely happy we've got him on a permanent deal as i'm 100% confident he can step up another level.

Word has it we're also sniffing around Hooper as well. Is there likely to be any substane in this?

Wouldn't say that. Reckon Hooper would jump at the prospect of EPL football.

I've got a few links to people involved inside the club, apparently we're after a forward and have looked at Maynard, Rodriguez and Sharp. Had a bid of over £3million accepted for Sharp pre-season but he didn't want to come (ERROR), Bristol wanted more than the £4million we offered for Maynard and Burnley wanted more than the £4.5million we offered for Rodriguez. Hoopers name has cropped up recently, as has Rhodes. Would £4million not be enough to tempt the club into selling him?

    Not in January anyway/

The club would be looking for at least £8m in my opinion, he's worth too much for us as a club and if the likes of Long and Steven Fletcher goes for £7m down there, Andy Carroll at £35m we would be looking for a helluva lot.

Fans would be in uproar here if he went for that so can't see it tbh. Talking over £6m a would say. Hard trying to replace a natural poacher like him, just finds himself in the right place at the right time , and him and Stokes have a good bond.

na 4 million for hooper is laughable mate.

he scored more goals in the championship than andy carroll, for a weaker side, and andy carroll went for 35m.

we're not awash with cash up here but i think the board wouldnt entertain a deal less than 6m for super hooper.

£4m no chance try double the offer then maybe we will talk - would be like us offering you £ 3 or 4 M for Lallana .

    No it wouldn't.

Celtic only have 2 strikers they can rely on - Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes. Georgios Samaras is unreliable and Mo Bangura hasn't done much since his arrival from Sweden. So Celtic would be crazy to sell Gary Hooper at this moment in time.

I'm not sure what price Celtic would be looking for but I'm certain it would be more than £4million.

I personally haven't seen much of him, so can't comment on how good he is. However he has a very good reputation. The only thing against you is the quality of your league, which could have an effect on player values. However Adkins was his manager at Scunthorpe and I beleive they have a very good relationship. If Adkins persuades Cortese, that he needs Hooper and he would be able to score goals at a higher level, I have no doubt Cortese would make the funds available and try to thrash out a deal. Remember, we're still to spend any of the Chamberlain money!

On another note, how is Stokes doing now, I remember seeing him in the Championship a few times, but he always seemed out of his depth. He has a decent track record in the SPL though doesn't he?

I see your point. Lallana wouldn't be sold for less than £10million. He is too vital to the squad. If Hooper has this same status it would obviously take a hefty fee to persuade the club to sell.

Hooper is a class above, his movement is excellent. Was the top scorer in the Championship before and has scored goals in Europe.

Stokes is an excellent SPL player, dunno how it didn't work out for him down south his passing, link up play and poaching is excellent. Very good technique.

    Very strange.

Hooper is a class above though, best striker we've had at this club since Henrik Larsson IMO.

Guy is not good enough for Celtic but he is anchoring a club at the top of the Championship?

Good luck Jos, sry you never got your chance here.

Hooper has yet to score at a high European level like McDonald did (Man U, Milan) and Jan (Barcelona) but his in league record is good enough.

I do sometimes worry about his touch though. It seems to come and go. He often is able to use his strength to make up for it tho
