Was it no a couple of seasons ago when we got a goal disallowed at Motherwell with another crazy, completely non-conclusive camera angle?

It was either Jota or Maeda and the camera angle was from the shy line in our own half. Absolutely no way yhey could have told what was offside and what wasn't. But yhey chopped it off anyway

This in a nutshell. We all know if the linesman said the ball went out of play there would be no VAR to check if the ball was still in.

I'd be interested to know if there's any law re VAR and the ball being out of play. Pretty sure there won't be. What it certainly isn't, is a CLEAR and OBVIOUS error.

Being used to re referee the game and even worse is that you can't even tell if it is or is not with the camera being around 18yds or more away and not in line with play and even a slight angle can make it look in or out on a camera depending on where the camera is situated.

If its unclear and the linesman has not flagged it then benefit of the doubt should go to the attacker as it simply cannot be proven otherwise.

As above...not a clear and obvious error.

Ironically Muir was the guy at the centre of the controversy around the Scales incident in the Cup final wasnt he? The guy Rangers basically demanded not to be re-instated after it. So both sets of the OF think the guy is at it.

Hes made so many bad mistakes on VAR its probably a case hes just not very good and should be punted.

CeltsAreHere understands that Celtic are pushing the SFA for a definitive image that was used to chop off Daizen Maeda’s equaliser against Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday

The Hoops have asked for the image and footage that led VAR Alan Muir to his final decision to rule out the goal, with the ball allegedly having gone out of play

Celtic are looking to see if a more conclusive angle was used by Muir to make the controversial decision

If a camera angle closer to the ball was used, it would clear up the confusion. However, if Muir made his decision based on the 18-yard line camera around the edge of the box, that video wouldn’t be definitive or conclusive enough to make such a huge call.

UEFA often utilises the camera behind the goal to make VAR calls, but with Scottish football lacking the same funding, it appears unlikely that they will be able to supply conclusive evidence that the ball was out of play

Brendan Rodgers did discuss the controversial decision post-match with the Irishman. Having coached in England for a number of years, he spoke about how Scottish football doesn’t have the same standard of equipment as English football due to not having as many cameras at the game

If it is revealed that Muir made the call to overrule referee Steven MacLean and the assistant referees, who would have had the best view of the ball, it’s certainly likely to be a difficult situation for SFA Head of Referee Operations Willie Collum to have to deal with.

Put simply, if the goal wasn’t ruled out, Celtic would have been level in the game with momentum on their side and had the chance to go on and secure a win. Instead, they suffered defeat through a controversial call that has yet to be backed up by any conclusive evidence

Be interesting to see this one out, how will they explain hiw he can't overrule the 2 people on the park with that 18 yard pigeon shot, especially seeing as linesman could be judged to have best view
