See that clown Gallagher on Sky who after the Hearts game said it’s a penalty basically said he was right not to give a penalty on Saturday against St Johnstone because he would have had to send the guy off?

So he is advocating the ref and VAR changes the rule that a handball, accidental or otherwise that stops a ball going in the net is a penalty because he would have to send the guy off?

Surely the common sense approach is give the penalty and not give any card as it is not deliberate but it’s stopped a certain goal. That doesn’t hit his arm there Maeda has scored, it doesn’t get anymore clear cut.

Honestly, see the mental gymnastics these pundits and celeb refs do a times to try justify a decision, having only a fortnight ago said hand ball penalties are always given in Scotland. Now it’s common sense?

The only thing common is the theme of the rules being applied one way for one team and differently for another. Or even for and against the same team as high foot in the Motherwell and Hearts game showed.

Blatant as it will ever be, from scottish football authorities, referees and our broadcaster. Yet radio silence from CP HQ. Hopefully with the Rodgers appeal in mind they are saving everything for then, won't hold my breath though

Penalty rules should be looked at, they are probably the worst rule in football.

You see penalties given constantly where there was never a chance for someone to score, so they're handing out like 76% chance of goals as a ball hit a guys arm 15 yards from goal in the middle of 8 players or guys are running and the ball almost goes out of play but he is clipped or tripped.

If the rules were more fair you'd probably only get a penalty for things like arms blocking shots going on target or players being fouled when they had a chance to shoot or score. Could just give freekicks inside the box for random handballs or fouls where nobody was going to score anyway, maybe make it freekicks inside the box only get 5 yards instead of 10.

The current ways you get penalties its just mental that an arm can block a certain goal and not be a penalty and yet the ball can hit an arm on the 18 yard line dropping from the air with a full box and be a penalty.

Decisions have been even dodgier recently and will only get worse as we are at the business end now. Why would he want to stay and face the music when he can just * off.

Cheating in Rangers favour about to hit an all time high.

That is one of the most stupid things I've heard from a ref. What chance have we got when former top referees can't get their own opinions straight or follow the rules?

He said it was a penalty against us at Hearts because handballs are consistently given in Scotland. They aren't consistently given at all. That was a lie.

His explanation for not thinking it was a penalty is mental. The exact inconsistent and bending the rules excuses that is making a mockery of the decisions.

He thinks it's too harsh because he would have to send him off. That does not matter in the slightest. It's a handball.

He isn't there to decide if a red card is too harsh. It's a handball and the rules for a handball stopping a goal is a red card. You can't decide it's not a handball because you think the punishment of a red card is too harsh.

What he is saying is if that hit a player in the middle of the box it would be a penalty as the ref wouldn't need to give a red card. Actually stop a goal with your arm then it becomes too harsh.

    Crazy, absolutely crazy.

The SFA are conducting a review of the role due to VAR inconsistencies and he steps down.

Purely coincidental timing and nothing to see.

Aye look at some of the ones like the Iwata at Tynecastle behind his back after being nudged by his own player, the O'Riley one that was flicked up off his leg on to his hand at Celtic Park and then the Bernabei one goes over his head then headed on to his arm from behind..

Yet they won't give one thats stopping a clear goal..

The rules are * but no matter what happens with changes to any rules, these orange * will bend it to suit..

Just reading the comments about that. In the same programme he's showing his double standards.

Diallo is unfortunate to be sent off but they are the rules.

We didn't get a penalty even though it was a handball because it would have been too harsh to send the St Johnstone player off. The St Johnstone player would have also been unfortunate, but they are the rules.

It's not the refs decision when they decide to pick and choose which unfortunate rules they apply.

Would only have to send him off if it was...intentional ... handball.
If it hits the arm by accident and stops the goal it would just be a penalty and maybe a yellow card.
    Learn the rules JACKASS!!!

100% agree, penalty should only be given if clearly deliberate or very obviously preventing a goal.

Handball penalties should be a rarity not dished out like confetti based on a fundamentally flawed interpretation of what is a 'natural position'

Still have flashbacks to the 2 scandalous pens we lost v Real Madrid - those weren't given by SPFL biased refs but by one of many bad referees in Europe who don't understand what is an already flawed rule.

I know it's probably wishful thinking, but maybe the fact Rodgers has mentioned lawyers in relation to his upcoming hearing has that * Allen and his buddies bricking it? Are we properly going after the * and he's jumping before he's found out?

If it's just coincidence then it's a pretty * big one. Starting to convince myself that the club are out for blood here. Would be * epic.

Am trying to come up with something that explains why him resigning is coming out now of all times, that isn't what I described. I can't think of any better explanation at all, the timing just fits perfectly.
