I would actually like to see this deal happen. Even if he can't play against Juventus we still need the type of player that he is; it's still good business to focus on the team after the CL game seeing as there's no guarentee that we'll even make it through to the next round.


Although I haven't seen much of him myself, a lot of people on here have said that he's a good player. If that's the case he isin't a bad age either, if it was me I would go for it.

 

why do we rubbish rumors when its for a good player, its like the board doesn't want us to get out hopes up...

 

Well yeah that's exactly it. If we were to get our hopes up then there would be more expectation, leading to more disappointment, ending in fans blaming the board.

 

Where exactly have we 'rubbished' this rumour? As far as I can see the only rubbishing was by 'Celtic sources'.

Never in recorded human history has a single phrase been such a reliable barometer of fictitious reporting than 'Sky Sports understands...'.

I think the rubbishing might have been for a move this january, but his contract expires in the summer so we may be looking at that

We were interested in him in the summer, his agent said he would come to Celtic, Lennon has said he is after a left sided midfielder and he would be available for a relatively low fee. It ticks every box, plus the fact he is a good player.

Seems a no brainer for me.

 

Hopefully he can become captain one day

 

This is the type of situation I hate us being in. If we're truly interested in signing this guy then either buy him now and be done with it or sign him on a pre contract and at lest ensure he'll join us unless something unforseen like Fojut happens.

What we shouldn't be doing is raising speculation every now and then as that'll just alert other clubs to him.

I honestly think in this case there's no smoke without fire seeing as he's the type of player that we're supposedly looking for. Maybe the board are being a bit tight and don't want to pay the £2-3 million I would imagine Braga are after but we surely can afford it seeing as the progress in the CL was probably better than originally predicted.

 

He sounds like he should be a baddy in a Bond movie, or Rocky.

My only concern, if we signed Barbosa (or any other winger), would be that I'd hope Neil Lennon would still be looking for a playmaker to sit in the hole and pass the ball. That's what we're chronically lacking.

Could definitely do with another winger, but a Lubo-like central attacking playmaker is a much bigger priority, imo.
