The hearing against Manchester City on 115 alleged breaches of Premier League rules is set to start next month with the outcome known early in the new year.
The independent commission had been expected to start in November but sources with knowledge of the case have said that it is now due to begin in mid-to-late September, unless there are further legal delays.
The hearing has been scheduled to last ten weeks, with the commission members expected to deliver their verdict at the start of 2025. The outcome of City’s separate legal case brought against the Premier League’s associated party transactions (APT) rules is set to be revealed in the next two weeks, which would then allow the 115 charges hearing to take place earlier. There is a belief that City have achieved some successes in the arbitration hearing.
The Premier League declined to comment. Manchester City did not respond when approached by The Times.
City are facing the threat of relegation from the Premier League if the most serious charges against them are proved. The alleged rule breaches include not providing accurate financial information for nine separate seasons, not providing full details of former manager Roberto Mancini’s pay over the four seasons he was at the club from 2009-13, and not providing full details of players’ remuneration — including that of the former midfielder Yaya Touré — over six seasons from 2010-11 to 2015-16

Take whatever points they achieved in the relevant seasons, add them together and take them off from last season’s total off all league winners combined points total to give them their position from next season.
Ban them from Europe and 2 seasons of domestic cup competitions.
Also, revoke all their domestic trophies from those relevant seasons and give them to the runners upLast edited: Aug 14, 2024Wee Baldy and We named the dog Indiana like this. -
Just looked at years Man City are being charged over.
Total points they earned over that period =739 pts.
Take that from last season and deduct from every lleague winner and remaining points would relegate them to 8th position of National League South.
Also just looked who lost out in Europe for those seasons from league competition.
Didnt include cup competitions.
Everton lost out in playing in European Competition 4 times
Liverpool lost out in playing in European Competition 2 times
Man Utd lost out in playing in European Competition once
Southampton lost out in playing in European Competition once
Swansea lost out in playing in European Competition once
That's just from the league qualification spotsWee Baldy likes this. -

It certainly will be very interesting to see what kind of punishment they get handed down if they are found guilty. Amazing how far back some of the charges go as well.

You just know that even if found guilty of sone or all charges… that firstly it will get dragged out via appeals etc to the end of season just to make sure it has no impact on 24/25 season.. and that any punishment will avoid anything that will damage their league position like a points deduction…
…. it’ll be a hefty fine that they will brush off with some more sports washed dirty money. -

Following today’s publication of the Rule X Arbitral Tribunal Award, Manchester City Football Club thanks the distinguished members of the Arbitral Tribunal for their work and considerations and welcomes their findings
The Club has succeeded with its claim: the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules have been found to be unlawful and the Premier League’s decisions on two specific MCFC sponsorship transactions have been set aside
- The Tribunal found that both the original APT rules and the current, (amended) APT Rules violate UK competition law and violate the requirements of procedural fairness.
- The Premier League was found to have abused its dominant position.
- The Tribunal has determined both that the rules are structurally unfair and that the Premier League was specifically unfair in how it applied those rules to the Club in practice.
- The rules were found to be discriminatory in how they operate, because they deliberately excluded shareholder loans.
- As well as these general findings on legality, the Tribunal has set aside specific decisions of the Premier League to restate the fair market value of two transactions entered into by the Club.
- The tribunal held that the Premier League had reached the decisions in a procedurally unfair manner.
- The Tribunal also ruled that there was an unreasonable delay in the Premier League’s fair market value assessment of two of the Club’s sponsorship transactions, and so the Premier League breached its own rules. -
Sounds like some brown envelopes were handed to the members of the tribunal.
Bet the PL also had some crap solicitors against City's team of the most elite in the country. -

It was always dodgy how it took so long for this to happen. City were prepared to win and probably targeted those who would make the decision.
City getting their just deserts this season though. -

It will be a headline of City guilty and punished, with 15 odd proven and the smallest of charges proven, that they’ll have already decided to not fight like the heavier charges. So they come out this unscathed, but the FA come out not looking completely ridiculous and can point towards some wins.
They’ve done everything to the absolute loophole and technical definition of being able to not get hammered. And they have a legal team more well funded than any other.
It was City that forced the issue to make sure Newcastle after the takeover can’t do what they done, and Newcastle’s owners are vastly wealthier even if at that scale having that amount more doesn’t even matter anymore.
City for years have made sure they’re one of the most well run clubs after the owners made sure of it, they have insane turnover and profit for years now. They’ll get no sanctions that will stop them being a juggernaut of English football. At the most a punishment to take them out the running for trophies for a year and mid-table, like 20 point deduction going into next season. EPL will not want one of the premier clubs that bring in money destroyed. -
Take 5 pts off them for every guilty charge proven.
