It seems like you just don't understand the situation we're in. Think how much it actually costs to run a club like Celtic. Without Champions League football, we simply do not make a profit.

Well a heard our turn over is Est 60 million per year

Also cant see the wage bill been more than 40 million per year

A really cant see why we are not proffiting because we have sponsors ,with nike, tennents, coca cola, etc, 50 thousand season ticket holders not to mention the millions of club merchandise on sale

we must of really liked him or why put all our eggs in the one basket

so we must be being cheap or we would have backed off when we knew what they were asking for him

biscuit tin mentality is alive and well at celtic park

I don't find it particularly surprising when I think about it. The wage bill swallows up the season ticket money right away.

this is more down to the fiasco that is the tony mowbary reign ,we will still be paying for this 5 yrs from now ,with the players bought and sold for less and the compensation ,then throw in the almost complete new team lenny needed ,that is were mcgeady money went ,then on top of all that no title or champs league money for 3yrs .
we really have to calm down a bit and actually thank fek its not worse than it is ,so i would say we are being run well despite some bad decisions being made ,i would say we are on course to recover quicker now that lennon is manager .

    I agree.

I think there are thousands upon thousands of Celtic supporters who haven't yet fully woken up to just how grave our financial situation is. Money is as tight now as it's ever been since the days of 'Celts for Change' and the lack of Champions League revenue is really biting hard.

We badly need to cut down the size of our squad and our wage bill. If we do that it will give us more wiggle room to buy new players.

We don't have any debt and have a massive turnover.
Comparing our current situation to the kellys is ridiculous.
Clearly we can't spend like man city but we can surely spend 2 million to fill an important position that desperately needs filling.

Our debt is increasing year on year at the moment. I was under the impression It's not far off the 10 million mark. The turnover gives context to the financial health of the club but essentially, It's the profit that matters. If we're losing money season on season, how can we afford to pay for new players? Champions league revenue is the key to it all. I'm glad the board are being careful with what little resources we have.

We do have debt though, something in the region of 10mil according to the interim results earlier in the year.

Our debt will grow if we dont have the squad that is strong enough to get us into the Champions League.

That means investing. Its a gamble, but the alternatives are:

No title, again. The squad this year is effectively the same as last year except we have lost the best player in Scotland and a keeper that kept 24 clean sheets. A squad that wasnt good enough last year, and is effectively weaker.

We would miss out on possible CL money of £10m+

We would then become a massive selling club. Kayal, Izzy, Ledley etc would all be put in the shop window.

So we either bite the bullet now and back a manager that has had a remarkable first season and was just short of the quality needed to win the title.

    Or its dark days ahead.

Ok, I may be wrong about the debt but lenny has said he needs a keeper. If we don't have 2 million then don't tell everyone we want a keeper valued at 2 million.

But you're speaking from a position of ignorance. You don't know what happened behind the scenes. Maybe Lenny changed his mind, maybe another keeper has been brought to his attention, maybe he felt that 2 million was just too much of a gamble for a relatively untested player. I don't know why people are so quick to attack the board when they don't know the circumstances. There's no way we can't afford a 2 million pound player, but we have to be prudent. There's no point in being rushed into a transfer we're unsure of just because another club have met the asking price.

A dont see why that is when under mowbray we spent around 9 million bringing in players yet recieved close to 7 or 8 million with transfer fees out, he was a garbage manager and made an * of things but i have looked at the figures and he didnt spend mega millions the way people go on, we recouped the 7-8 million with the sales of

    s.mcdonald.................3.5 mill

    mccmanus 1.5................ mill

    donatti.............1.5 million

    g. caldwell, undisclosed

    b robson undisclosed

    d fox...... 1.8 million

    Then you have season 2010-11

were we spent a total of 9.6 million

I'd rather announcements were made when we make a signing.
Don't like this new idea of making our interest in a player public.
It only leads to embarrassment imo. Just look at the huns.
Disappointed we've fallen into the same trap.

It's fine, the club do! Do you think we just make up our financial results?
