First off, the gulf between Celtic and Arsenal is large. Therefore you've just said that the quality between Hapoel and Celtic is also large. Which is true. Second off, we may compete in what is a fairly low standard of football, but if you look at the past 4 years, we've made it into the last 16 of the Champions League 2 times. I'm not sure if you know much about European football, but this is a pretty great feat, especially coming from a "pub league". We also reached the finals of the EUFA Cup in 2003. We have won the Scottish League Championship 42 times, as compared to you winning the Israeli Championships 12 times. We have won the Scottish Cup 34 times, as opposed to you winning the State Cup 12 times. We have won the Scottish League Cup 14 times, against you winning the Toto Cup 1 time. We have also won the European Cup, and were the first British team to do so.

To come on to a Celtic forum, where Celtic fans congregate, and to say that we're arrogant is a complete blunder on your part. You're in a Celtic forum, which means that we're all proud to be Celtic fans here. Obviously we love the team. That is where you get the sense of arrogance from. But it's false - it's just our love for the team. Please don't come onto a forum and call fans arrogant; fans are what they are. Loyal.

I think we are over confident and this will backfire.

This is my theory on the matter. We judge them as the pub team, hence when they come to celtic park we expect a victory, this will put pressure on celtic to score and this creates potential mistakes. When we play teams like man u, we are the underdogs so the fans don't expect victory, this puts less pressure on the team meaning less mistakes.

That is what I meant to say. Yes, you are wealthier than we are, but just like you would have been annoyed if Arsenal fans called your club a team of carpenters or a pub team, I find those references coming from Celtic fans annoying, which prompted me to sign up for the forum. And as I said, we beat Celtic at home, while you guys didn't fare as well against Arsenal.

True, though given that only two team win anything in Scotland, with rare exceptions, it's not surprising that you'd have more championships. In Israel, our basketball champion won the league 38 times in the last 40 years. That doesn't mean they're better than say Real Madrid in Basketball, who actually face competition.

I don't really see this as a blunder; I'm not out to make friends. However, what irked me really was to see so many times in the forum your fans refer to my team as a pub team. True, our budget is a fraction of yours, but we certainly played a good game at home, and we beat you despite some shoddy refereeing, and instead of good sportsmanship, most of your supporters refer to a club I am proud to be supporting as a pub team. That's what I see as arrogance. Yes, you're wealthier than we are, but you have to prove you're better than us on the field. You haven't done it in Tel Aviv, we'll see whether you do in Glasgow.

    .

I was facetious with regard to Celtic's history, but at the same time wanted to illustrate that you may be a giant in European Football compared to Hapoel, you're no Milan or Real Madrid, so it really does you no good to look down on other clubs, especially one that beat you.

Love to see us put on a show tomorrow.

Just let the team read comments from this clown and it might make them realise that they need to show these boys what Celtic is all about.

Let Aiden at them, and go for it.

I hope you notice that not once in my post did I ever mention money or wealth as a factor of being considered a "pub team". Also, I'd like to point out the Hapoel Tel-Aviv played some of the worst defense I've ever seen in the first half of the game you won. And of course we're going to be angry at losing to a team like yours, because to be honest a "pub team" is a term for a team from a lesser known league and is usually a lesser known team, which is what Hapoel Tel-Aviv is. They're not a large name in football. Celtic is a decently sized name in football. You also didn't respond to the last 16 of the Champions League fact. We may be going through somewhat of a rough patch at the club, but we still have the history and to some degree the name to back us up. When people think football, they don't think Israel. They think England (and to a lesser extent the rest of the UK), Spain, and Italy. I'm sorry, but this is where this problem really comes from.

Everything is relative, when people think football they think first England, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Germany, before Scotland, and Scotland before Israel. Modest as they may be we also had our achievements, such as quarter final of UEFA cup, in a season where we had to "host" in a neutral country, and we just barely went out to Milan.

Anyway, I'm not saying that Celtic aren't favorites, certainly at home, but I still think we can get a draw. Regardless, it won't be a walk in the park for you, pub team or no pub team.

To be honest, I can see where HapoelX is coming from. It's always annoying to hear fans of your opponents put your team down. I remember reading on a Man Utd forum before we played them last season and all their fans were slagging us off etc., and it is annoying. So I can see where he's coming from.

And yeah, "pub team" is a phrase for a lesser known team from a lesser known league, but it's still not nice to be called that. We should respect Hapoel Tel-Aviv; they know the game well, clearly, because they beat us in September. Their fans are incredible and we should have a strong kinship with them.

I still think we'll win tomorrow, of course, but we'll need to play well to do so. I just hope Rapid beat the huns to keep the dream alive until Matchday 6.

I want a good performance, with much more savvy - especially from the defenders.

We played them off the park in the 1st half & let them back into the game in the 2nd half. Mowbray made some strange substitutions which hindered the team.

Remember we were quite unused to eachother as team-mates when we played them last time, we've had a lot more games together now & should have a more steady performance.

Taking the above into account I feel we should win 3-1, as I can never expect our defence to keep a clean sheet anymore.

By the way, calling another team who are playing in the same European competition as us a "pub team", is disrespectful & arrogant (especially when seen from their point of view).

I also can understand his attitude. He is very arrogant also but I probably would be also, if my team were getting the same insults.

Well that's because you were on a Man Utd forum, what do you expect? I mean it's not as if we're in here talking so much * about other teams, but when we expect to win over another team, we let that be known. I don't agree that we're being arrogant here.

I hope that too but Rapid's weak defence makes that very unlikely…

Thanks. I wasn't familiar with the pub team expression, but to me it implies a team of amateurs, or "pub buddies" as opposed to a professional team. And we do have a long history, the club is quite a bit older than our country, and our players are professionals. Well except for that deal with the prostitutes in Sweden, but hey, those two are our best players now.

As I said, Celtic are definitely favorites, but it won't be easy. I just hope we don't concede from an early free kick and I think we'll be fine

You can expect to win, but after you lose to a team give credit where credit is due, rather than complaining about the other team being weak. You're not going to win games just because of the name/history of the team. And for a pub team, we definitely outplayed you at home, especially during the second half. Hapoel is definitely no worse than any team in Scotland, other than the big Glasgow teams, and if we played in the Scottish league, I'm sure we'd be competitive.
