Is that an 8 mile round trip mate or 16 ? either way thats impressive. Wish i could do that but i am just not a runner. A used to play football myself but gave it up in the last year of school and a started putting on the weight and that, glad av found an outlet as well because, a like keeping fit and that but its the lifestyle.

You make a good point though because things like the sit-ups, the pull-ups, running and stuff does the job, almost anything that burns the fat will be engaging a lot of the body. I recently read that the abdominals are important in cycling- to me that was strange but it just shows you.

8 mile round trip mate 5 days a week was enough for the legs ,sit-ups are brilliant for your stomach ,back and thighs ,your abdominals take a lot of pressure in most physical sports and of course your back muscles aswell so aye i can see where the cycling comes into it .

Stopped going to the gym about a month ago after about 3 years straight. I realised i much preferred playing football and am now thinking of getting back into taekwondo.

Anybody buy any Maximuslce products ?

Is it just a marketing scam or do they work ?

and which is best for recovering after working out. I think that is the most important area for me. I would buy all of their products if i could afford them. But the priority is recovery and building up because i can always eat the food to give me energy pre-workout. Any thoughts peeeps ?

Are Maximuscle products for protein boosts? If so, I'd just make sure you eat enough nuts, dairy and meat. You don't really need to waste money on products like that.

Aye mate. They mostly fall under the bracket of Protein supplements. Though some say that if you get enough from yer diet you'll be doing ok and there is no need to take these. I eat protein foods.

I absolutely don't want to waste money but they are popular and they are marketed to help you. There are protein shakes in general. But different versions, some for bulking up, some for energising pre-workout, some for recovery and a few more. Its expensive stuff though.

Yeah they are quite expensive. A friend of mine uses them regularly and I don't see what major benefit he gets. I'm vegetarian so I occasionally have a protein shake after the gym as I need to make sure I get more because I don't eat meat, but if you eat meat daily I don't think you'll need to use them.

Yeah, a will try and stick to eating the meat. Can't go wrong with that.

Its just they are popular. Maybe its just the marketing. They put people in the advertisements who are in fantastic shape- but not because of these products. Am quite careful with ma cash and am not wasting it. A just don't wana be missing out tbh.

You need protein to build muscle, probably about 2g per KG of bodyweight. Protein shakes are a good way of getting extra protein into your body, and are convenient for straight after the gym, as thats when you need it the most. I've just brought some protein and creatine for when I start back at the gym when I go back to uni. Maximuscle is VERY expensive, mainly due to the amount they advertise. I use myprotein.co.uk, which is cheaper, but just as good.
I wouldn't say its a waste of money (protein powder) if you use it correctly, as your body can only absorb so much at a time, which is why the portion sizes are the way they are.

Yeah but if you regularly get enough protein in your diet, then these products aren't really necessary.

True, but you need a lot more protein of your trying to put on muscle. Also, the main advantage with a proetin shake is the convenience of it. I'm a student, so I can have one on the way to a lecture straight after the gym. You can't really have a tin of tuna on the move like I often have after the gym. Eggs are also a good source of protein. Scrambled eggs is a great breakfast to try Nick, as eggs are full of amino acids that are the building blocks of muscle.

Yeah. I actually like Eggs tbh so i will look to incorporate them into the diet. Is it true they recommend only 3 eggs a week though due to cholesterol ? or is that irrelevant with excercise and a good diet.

3 a week is very low, so I doubt it. I wouldn't have them everyday though. You can just take the yolk out though, as the proteins in the white, but the flavours in the yolk.

I know what you mean in regards to the convenience, but I prefer unsalted nuts as they're a lot cheaper. I'm a student too, so I've gotta watch the pennies. :icon_mrgreen:

Although, too much protein will lead to your body storing it as fat.

Ah right. People take the yolk out as thats pure cholesterol supposedly. But the white is all protein.
