Never wanted him anyway. Not what we need and has a terrible record.

    Delighted to say the least

No mate, you have a fantasy thinking the club can’t do no wrong, that’s quite clear.

Also World Cup Final or not, it was a last resort loan and it’s proved my point. Thanks for clearing that up.

So thanks for the discussion and have a great day.

Except I frequently criticise how the club is run… just with a touch of realism. The recruitment is poor enough without you having to add your fantastical spin on it.

My point of Braafheid didn’t help make your point at all, it just showed that any signing (even someone deemed good enough to play in a World Cup final) has its risks. The fact you’re going back 14 years to try and make a point, doesn’t really help you either.

    Anytime; happy to help you.

It didn’t help your point in the slightest. Since 2010, we’ve signed various players at differing points of transfer windows to various degrees of success. Cherry picking one player from 14 years ago to try and make a point doesn’t help you. I could go back and pick numerous players who we signed early in windows who have also failed.

But I’ll retort with a far more recent example of business done late in a window. Adam Idah signed on deadline day in January 2024; does you want to argue that he was anything but a colossal success?

Having a lovely day pal, thanks for your continued well wishes.

It did, but aye keep telling yourself that.

Let’s nip this whole thing in the bud now, since you are clogging the forum up with the pointless excessive replies!

Have a great day, week and rest of the month and all the best!

Thanks for being so gracious in admitting you don’t want me to continue highlighting your lack of cohesive argument.

No need to wish me both a great week and rest of the month when the rest of this week covers the remainder of the month, but thanks for your efforts.

Safe to say this was one for the "we tried" books.

    We clearly have though?

Isn't like a transfer that we've haggled for. He's just rejected coming to us on loan by the looks of it to fight for his place at a top 6 serie a club..

Late on was our best hope of a player like him and others..

A club with a coherent structure wouldn't scrambling around for unattainable targets in the last few days of the window.

It's all well and good being interested in a player we think we might be able to get, but the end result is the same isn't it. It hasn't happened. Right now we should be trying to get that winger from Sweden: we know the fee, his potential his evident and it's completely doable.

We'll see in a few more days how genuine the "we're waiting for quality" sound bites are. But from the Trusty links and years of negligent transfer windows, forgive me if I'm coming across a little sceptical.

We don't have a coherent structure though.

Like, no one is denying that. It's clear we are planning to sort that out after the window closes so it's pretty pointless going back to it consistently.

It seems you're contradicting yourself a wee bit here. You want to sign the boy from Sweden, who has had less than 20 competitive games of football and is the absolute definition of a project while still emphasising the 'waiting for quality' soundbites from Brendan. So, what is it? Do you want a quality player, like Isaksen from a top club who may become available at the end of the window as the domino effect comes into play or do you want a project like Toure?

By the way, just for the avoidance of doubt, I think we should sign Toure at all costs but he is the exact definition of a project and you simply cannot call him 'quality' after 17 games in the Swedish top flight.

I think quality is quality - age is pretty irrelevant in that regard. From the little I've see of Toure, he fits that bill. Could be totally wrong, but I'm just saying if we want another winger and Isaksen is off the cards, then let's move fast onto the next one and take a gamble on someone who looks promising and is available.

FWIW, I'd rather we address other areas of the team first. At this point, I would take another winger on loan. Instead, I think we should be spending proper money, i.e. £7m-£10m on CM x2 and LCB.
