A few times this season, I actually think the player in possession has been looking to play the pass, but you can see Guidetti isn't going to be able to run in behind the defender, as he lacks a bit of pace.

Think Guidetti would be the better option but he should've kept his mouth shut

Has to be Griffiths he's on form and Guidetti just isn't doing it atm, it's unlikely but if Commons is out we could maybe start both.

I see no argument for starting Guidetti at the minute, apart from an assist against Partick and a couple of flashes here and there hes been absolute * for a couple of months. Griffiths was so patient in waiting for his opportunity and when it cane he took it. Hes scoring goals, hes working as hard as anyone on the team and id trust him to take a chance before Guidetti right now.

This is another thing. If Guidetti was to get the nod over Griffiths tonight, what kind of message does that send out. Griffiths has earned the right to start tonight in my opinion.

If Deila picks any player tonight because of what messages it sends out then we are *.

He'll pick the team to win the match, if he believes that's Griffiths then so be it.

Don't think there's any danger of Guidetti starting to be honest, it's Griffiths place to lose just now.

So you don't think it would be sending out the wrong message to players, if he were to pick a player who is out of sorts, and can't buy a goal at the minute, over someone who has seized his opportunity in the team, by scoring regularly, and putting in good performances. I think this will all be irrelevant anyway, as the more I think about it, I really don't see Ronny dropping Griffiths.

What message does it send out to Stokes if he plays Armstrong and/or GMS in front of him? A distinct possibility.

A team won't be picked on what message it send out, it will be picked to win the match.

Both situations are different though, and I suspect you know as much. Stokes hasn't really nailed down a place in the team at the minute, unlike Griffiths, who is bang in form. Stokes hasn't started the last 2 games, and both Mackay-Steven & Armstrong have both come in and played well. I don't think Stokes could have many complaints if he was dropped for either tonight. Griffiths on the other hand, would have every right to feel aggrieved if he is dropped for Guidetti in my opinion.

GMS and Armstrong haven't been * for months and we've just spent a couple million pound bringing them in with both scoring on their debut so it's not really a relevant comparison. Armstrong and Stokes won't even be competing for a place.

    Stokes hasn't nailed down a place? :56:

Stokes has every right to be more aggrieved than Griffiths.

Armstrong and Stokes are direct competition for a starting spot.

Stokes was poor against Sevco, then he was dropped, come on and was poor against Dundee, and has then been dropped for the last two games in the league. Aye, sounds like he has nailed down a place right enough :56:

Recovering from an injury, previous to that he's been by far our most creative player this season.

Nobodies place is safe. Everybody knows that.

Scepovic scored 2 games in a row and got dropped when it looked like he could have been building momentum. Don't think Ronny really cares about form.

I wouldn't say that Dev, he played the midweek game against Motherwell, and then was rested in the Ross County game the week before Sevco, so I would say he had recovered from his injury. I'm not disputing that he has been our most creative player, but to say he has nailed down a first team place is simply not true at this moment in time.

No he doesn't, Armstrong and GMS were brought in for decent money to strengthen the team, that's the point of buying new players. Stokes has been good on and off for a couple of months as well, he's not been consistent.

Where did Armstrong start against Partick and St Johnstone? I genuinely can't remember.

I think it takes some players more than one game to recover from injury, usually takes Lustig/Commons/Matthews a few.

Stokes is similar, though I thought he was good when he came on at the weekend.
