Went to their champions league game against Seville. Thousands of empty seats in a meaningful champions league game and a dreadful atmosphere. Their support was also one of the most whinging, entitled lots I've seen. They really do forget how far they've come.

    * modern football.

Don't think arsenal would want him tbh. They'll probably want longevity, another arsene. Pep never does long term jobs.

I second this - went to the City v Liverpool game in November, absolutely soulless bunch of fans.

Makes you appreciate the Celtic support, and stadium if I'm honest.

I like Pep, but I hope he absolutely crashes and burns there. I despise City and all their worth. They are the epitome of all that is wrong with modern football. I will be monitoring their transfer activity this summer with close attention, and with one eye on Uefa to see how much they will tolerate the financial doping that is about to transpire.

To be fair he won the double when he took over, plus 2 other trophies. As i have said before it is very very difficult to retain the champions league, as no one has done it... yet. Look at Real, took them over a decade to win it again.

Different styles of football and they broke a number Bundesliga records under Pep so wasn't that bad. I agree that once he reached the semis past 2 years, especially against real he got it wrong.

Jose has won it twice same as Pep, all be it with clubs you didn't expect which makes them a great achievement. But you could say Jose failed at the clubs he was expected to win it.

Pep Guardiola is getting £20m a year for the 3 years PLUS a £10m bonus if they win the CL in that time.

It'll be interesting to see if he can imprint his brand of football on the English game.

I'm finding it interesting to imagine the kind of team he might build. It's like going to City on FM and having a massive budget:smiley-laughing002:

    I'd go for:

    Hart

    Bellerin Kompany Boateng Alaba

    Kroos

    Pogba Silva

    De Bruyne Aguero Reus

Subs: Caballero, Otamendi, Stones, Zabaleta, Gundogan, Sterling, ST?

I really like Pep and his beliefs on how the game should be played but I can't * stand Man City.

Can't see it happening but I hope he fails in the EPL.

Maybe when he falls on his *, people will start referring to him as Guardiola, instead of 'Pep'.....as though he's their mate.

I dont care what anyone says about his style or his record.....it wouldnt be anywhere near what it is if not for 'Lionel'......nowhere * near.

Nah, he seems a decent enough guy, i just dont give managers of top teams as much credit as others seem to, without seeing evidence of them succeeding at lower levels.

What annoys me is the amount of credit attributed to him for those guys coming through. Would they all be * players if he hadnt been Barca B manager? Of course they wouldnt.

Sometimes a group evolves, like the young uns' at Man Utd in the 90s.
Granted Fergie helped mould them and set up the youth thing like he did at Aberdeen......but occasionally you have to acknowledge things just came together.... as can be seen with Fergies subsequent attempts to follow that great group, which hasnt come to much, despite multiple attempts to find them again.

Doesnt mean he isnt a top manager, he clearly is, but for me, 'Pep' being at Barca B at that particular time was just good timing.....as i am 100% sure they would all have still been top players without him.

Just my thoughts.....if he proves me wrong, i'll call him Mr Pep.
