Yeah let's abandon an attractive passing style and start playing like Wimbledon just because it didn't work in the first game of the season. If Fortune hadn't missed from 3 yards things might have been very different tonight and I can bet this thread would not exist. :87:

Its not the first time a CL qualifier has simply come too soon. I think it was a miracle (and epic football) when we beat Spartak. They were a lot better then than Dynamo were tonight.

We produced 90% of our chances with the old-fashioned ˝punt it up to the tall striker˝ style. I think that speaks something.

As much as i like to see Celtic passing the ball around there need to be a point when players decide to have a go, i mean there was about 10 chances tonight where we should have drilled the ball towards goal but decided to go wide.

We can't walk the ball into the net for every goal we plan to score.

You can't say the passing game won't work after just one competitive game, it takes time for a squad to gel and play the way the manager wants them to.

We created a few chances but our finishing and sloppy defending at their goal let us down.

It's not all doom and gloom, we still have a chance of qualifying - anyone would think reading some of the posts immediately after the game our season was over after 1 game.

Given time I believe the passing game will work, fans just have to be patient :50:

It's not, but, we cannot play the eye candy football, if we want to go further. No playmaker, and the well prepared Russian defense doomed that kind of football. I know lumping high balls up to the CF-s is ugly, but it puts the most pressure on the Russian defense.

Maybe we don't quite have the personnel yet, but Mowbray will build towards that.

You can't discredit the style after one competitive game, we will keep playing this way and the squad will keep improving.

Nope, he won several headers, but we failed to utilize his flick-ons. I remember when Maloney caught one, but it was either a blocked attempt, or he missed the goal. Some other duels he won as well, but we failed to take advantage.

We tried the passing game - it didn't work and thats why Mogga changed to Killen and Samaras at the hour mark.

He did it early, but we still had McGeady in the side, sadly. With a proper crossing expert, we might've scored.

totally agree. sadly we still had to witness the mcgeady runs to the corner flag and then backwards again.

Mcdonald and Fortune arn't the tallest players, so i wouldn't try and blame McGeady's crosses.

He was in the game even when we had Killen and Samaras.

Fortune looked like a 6 foot plus to me last night mat and he won his fair share in the air
