See when CCV pulls up again and KT fills in at CB with GT playing the inverted full back role. Well all forget about this and have a new song to sing. GT and KT at the club would be a sensation.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed he quickly held talks with Greg Taylor after defending the "dedicated Celt" following Kieran Tierney chants during the win over St Mirren.

Supporters inside Parkhead could be heard loudly singing Tierney's name at the Scottish Premiership fixture which irked Rodgers over a "total lack of respect".

The Celtic boss had been left frustrated as he defended Taylor's contribution to the club in a stinging response to the chants.

Rodgers said on Sunday: "Aye, total lack of respect. Of course it is. Greg Taylor. He's been absolutely amazing at this club.

"How does he feel? He's playing. Nearly breaks his nose. Bleeding for the club, for the cause.

"I'm more worried about the players that are here. It's not very respectful if you sing for another player. No matter what Kieran’s history is. I don't like that."

Now, Rodgers has explained the state of play over Taylor's availability after being caught on the nose in the match as he confirmed he did speak with the player on a number of issues.

I have spoken to him, yeah," said Rodgers. "He's absolutely fine. I had a good chat with Greg on a number of things. He's good to go.

"He had a whack, that was obviously a part of going in to make sure he was okay and he rushed in to get some treatment.

    "He's fine, he trained today."

Pushed on Taylor's ability to ignore the noise with his contract expiring in the summer and Tierney links, Rodgers said: "I think Greg is clear on where he is at. For me, he is a dedicated Celt. He's been here for six years, I think tomorrow if he plays it is 200 games as a Celtic player.

"He is a brilliant servant and I hope he can continue to be that throughout my time here and beyond.

"I think you see form his performance level, his commitment to the team and to the club is always there.

"There is always a little backdrop for every player and manager but I think he copes with it really well and you see that in how consistent he is."

On whether a quick resolution to Taylor's contract situation is now required, Rodgers added: "You always want that, ideally. I'm sure Greg does as well. I think between the club and he and his representatives they will find a solution to it I'm sure, either way.

"In the meantime I am here to support him and his performance level and he is fine with it."

Rodgers has also spoken to Taylor, the left-back supporters are impatient to see replaced by Tierney as soon as possible.

Out of contract this summer, Taylor is 27, a senior player and a Scotland international and wants to earn £25,000 a week. When Celtic are bringing back Tierney on £35k at the same time, he seems more likely to go than stay.

Upset by those who chanted Tierney’s name within Taylor’s earshot in the closing stages of the St Mirren game, Rodgers added: ‘I had a good chat with Greg on a number of things. Yeah, he is good to go (in the next match).

‘Greg is clear on where he is at. For me, he is a dedicated Celt. He has been someone who has been here for nearly six years. If he plays tomorrow that is 200 games as a Celtic player which is a lot of games.

‘He is a brilliant servant and I hope he can continue to be that throughout my time here and beyond.’

If we are only paying KT 35k a week that is incredible. He’s currently on 120k a week. I can’t think of another player we’ve ever signed that’s taken that big a cut and we’ll probably never see it again
