Arbitrary motm awards mean very little. :56:

At the very least they mean you can hack it at that level. Taylor is our weak spot in the CL.

True, while scales has got motm in them games for being best on the pitch usually Taylor is the worst player on the pitch. Seems a nice lad and would like him to get a good move though. Hopefully he goes to Zagreb in the next couple weeks

Not really, there were other players more deserving than Scales when he received those MOTM awards. Taylor is levels above Scales.

Scales was immense in those games. If you can't even see that, there's clearly no point arguing with you.

Been here for 5 years now and celtic fans have wanted better for 4 of those years and his next contract is the last one before the start of the end of his playing days.
Dont really blame him for moving on and maybe getting a last pay day.
Always done his best for us even if it was not good enough.

Scales has done a decent job and has improved, no doubt. He's still our weak link though.

Wish him the best but glaring weakest link. Wouldn't be fussed retaining as backup. Probably best for both to move on.

The Scot's contract expires at the end of the season and the Blues want to bring him in without compensation

After Takuya Ogiwara left Maksimir , sports director Marko Marić turned to new options at left back, and one of those they were most interested in was Greg Taylor, a 27-year-old Celtic player, foreign media write.

According to Transfermarkt, Taylor is worth seven million euros. He has been with the current Scottish champions for more than five years. During that time, he has made 196 appearances and scored nine goals. He also provided 30 assists. The Scot was part of the team that Brendan Rodgers sent to the Maksimir pitch in the sixth round of the Champions League in a draw against Dinamo (0-0).

With his current team, he has won four championships, three national cups and two League Cups. Although his contract expires in the summer, Celtic are happy with him and want to extend their cooperation for the following seasons. In addition to the Scottish champions, Taylor has financially generous offers from foreign clubs, and it remains to be seen how realistic the option of the 27-year-old swapping Glasgow for Zagreb is.

The position of the left back in Dinamo has been a problem for many years and we will see if Taylor , if the deal is realized, can finally be the one they have been looking for all these years

Regular first team football? I'm guessing he knows we are bringing in a left back with the intention of them being first choice and Taylor, if he stays, is the squad player.

I think that'd be a great move for him.

He'll be guaranteed first choice, European football and will be playing for a team that usually dominate their league.

He could easily get a move to the MLS after he's done there.

Wouldn't be letting him go in January unless we get Tierney in, and even then I'd be shocked if Taylor wanted to leave in January.

The writing has perhaps been on the wall regarding Greg Taylor’s Celtic future beyond this summer.

The defender’s contract expires at the end of the season after five years in Glasgow.

Brendan Rodgers made it clear he hopes to keep Taylor with discussions over a new deal yet to take place in any great detail

Taylor has not committed to the Hoops yet despite Rodgers’ hopes and that has left some fans questioning whether or not the left-back will still be a Celtic player come the 2025/6 campaign.

The Greenock-born player can talk with clubs in January about a pre-contract ahead of the summer and one club have already expressed an interest in his services

67 Hail Hail understands Dinamo Zagreb are indeed interested in Taylor amid swirling social media reports from earlier this morning.

It was claimed the Croatian giants – who played against Celts in the Champions League this season in a goalless draw – were keen to bring Taylor to their club.

We understand Dinamo are hoping Celtic will sell Taylor in January to avoid having to wait until the summer

However they are also understood to have other options at left-back should the Scottish champions refuse to give up on the Scotland cap.

The club were urged to deal in the Celtic defender by club hero Chris Sutton but, as yet, there has been nothing signed.

And that comes amid Celtic’s desire to bring Kieran Tierney back to Glasgow on a loan deal in the coming weeks.

Arsenal have told KT they would not be extending his deal despite having the option to do so and that triggered a conversation between Rodgers and the player with the boss making his thoughts on the situation clear.

Taylor would likely play second fiddle to Tierney despite the 27-year-old being the stalwart at the back for Rodgers and for Celtic in recent seasons

Wouldn't mind him as back up but if he wants regular games then fair play to him.

I do think we will end up with KT and whoever is back up to him will see plenty of game time as we can't have KT playing a silly amount of minutes

I've always thought he was a decent player with 100% commitment, but he's shown recently that the mistakes are more often.
    Time to upgrade.

Been a decent enough servant for us, but he is undoubtedly a weak link in the team when it comes to games against good sides. There’s no doubt that teams have targeted him as they know they will get joy. Wish him all the best if he goes, but can’t say I’ll be disappointed. Domestically under Ange he was brilliant, I will say that.

The contract situation could be playing into his recent form. Wish him well if he leaves. As much maligned as he has been at times, I still think he's up there in terms of LBs we've had in the last 20 odd years.

Yeah but wouldn’t he be pretty much guaranteed that in the likes of the MLS, with a better standard of life?

Been a very good player for us. Has been scapegoated by a small minded minority however has contributed to our success in his time here.
