Thought he was one of our better players at that point. Not that the competition was amazing. Did well to recover from what was an awful pass. Johnston did the same twice on the other side but got away with it.

Find it bizarre we are in the position of needing 2 LBs in the summer. Supposedly Taylor's wanting a wedge to stay which I just can't see happening.

Seems like he has his eye on a move elsewhere.

Aye, i'd guess he has a move lined up. If he wanted to stay here winning trophies and playing in Europe etc he'd probably have signed a new contract a while ago so he must not be interested.

He isn't an EPL class player, so you'd guess it'll likely be America, could probably see out the rest of his career in the MLS and live there after retiring having had a good career winning plenty, plenty of caps playing in Europe and big games.

Been a good sevant for us.

Brilliant servant for us.. would be sad to see him leave. Celtics scapegoat which is unfair at times

Rab Douglas won 6 medals and a UEFA runners up medal with us. He wasn’t good enough and neither is Taylor. Realise you were just giving a stat though and not an opinion on him.:50:

Cost the first and then was very lucky to not cost us another after CCV managed to snuff out the 4 v 1.

He's already had an excellent career so far, but I doubt he'd get an EPL move.

His next move will be Italy or the MLS if he doesn't sign a new contract imo, I actually think he could thrive in Italy under the right system.

Don't agree with some recent posts saying he's always been a major liability and our weak spot, he was fantastic during those 2 years under Ange, especially the second season where there were genuine shouts for him to be POTY early on, I just don't think he fully fits this system.

Whilst I'd be more than fine if he signed a new contract, I think it's best for both parties if he moves on.

Whats his issue with a new contract, read somewhere that he wants guaranteed first team football??
If true, cannot get him out the door quick enough.

So when you can chose between having a CL quality LB and seeing TalkCeltic burn, you chose the second? :giggle1:

I give him credit for getting the goal. I think we underestimate the pressure sometimes.

That said, I think Valle is a noticeable upgrade on him. As someone pointed out above I could see him being successful in Serie A. I think that style and pace of game better suits him.

Actually want to sign Valle aswell, as he looks like he has the potential to be that CL player you're talking about. Big hopes for the lad.

Be great to have GT around aswell though, he's an important player.

Good luck to him if he goes, you cannot deny his commitment on the pitch.

If anything I'd say his contribution last season was bigger. Pretty much the only LB in club the whole season and pretty much played every game.

Sure there are better players but committment and determination absolutely are traits Taylor excels in and having gets the best out of others.

I couldn't see him starting for any club in the top 5 leagues..

    Maybe MLS or something..

His lack of athleticism will hold him back at at better level..

MLS now someone has mentioned it is a great shout for him. Good money and lifestyle for a young family with money. Not like he's chasing trophies or medals like some.

I agree MLS is the best he can hope for. It's there or Turkey or something.

As clear as mud that this is a position that needs upgrading, its been our weak link for a long time.
I just don't think GT is worth anymore than he is currently on.
I would offer him an extension of his existing contract, 2 or 3 year extension, with a view to being understudy LB and he could play left sided midfield also, to shore up games. A bit like Ralston.
But it seems like he has a much higher opinion of himself that is shared by very few of our fans.

He's been a * of a player for us. We know his limits as does he. He's man enough to own up when he can't cope. But he can shine somedays.

I suspect we're about to make a signing soon to compete with his position hence the contract negotiations. The club have maybe devalued him now.

But he's been great for us despite his failings. I hope we keep him as a back up but we could improve.
