I like The big G...comes in for some unfair stick sometimes...definitely worth keeping.

I agree it's a priority to get him nailed down. He can be improved on, no doubt, but he also brings an incredibly unique skill set and mentality that is perfect for the club and the role he has here. If he's happy to battle it out for first choice with another top left back then we couldn't ask for much better.

We paid £3m for him so we definitely should even if it's only another year he stays.

Got a feeling Rodgers isn't keen though.

In the presser today BR spoke for a couple of minutes on how he really wanted GT to sign an extension.

If that was a priority for Rodgers it would surely have happened 6 months ago. Could still happen but definitely not a priority for Rodgers.

Taylor can agree a pre-contract in 3 months? Or have I got that wrong?

Hope he stays. As much as I have been a huge critic of him, I will never not heap praise on him, or anyone, when it’s deserved, and he can be very very good on his day. As he was last week against Rangers. Never hides and he is so so brave and confident

It might be the case that Taylor fancies a new challenge elsewhere.

Good guy to have around and despite us needing an upgrade he'll still get games for us. He might not fancy being a squad player & wants to wait & take a look at his options. Obviously we are the bighest gig he's ever going to get but he could be thinking about taking a big payday from the championship or something. My advice, the physicality in that league would see him struggle, especially in a team without 70% of the ball most weeks. Sign the deal Greg. You know it makes sense.

Here's what he said in the presser. Sounds positive, but obviously it depends on how much we're willing to pay him and if we intend for him to be back up or not

Those are just words, it's the lack of action I'm basing my opinion on.

Taylor can sign a pre-contract in January. Given he's pretty much been the only LB the last 2 seasons not having his contract extended is criminal. Our most vital player up until this season where we actually have some (untested) cover.

Could be Taylor is looking for a change though, might not just be the club.

I still recall his challenge against Joey Barton when he was at Killie. Was a thing of beauty and ye seen the hatred in slow motion when he left one on him. For that alone, 6 year deal please.

Think he’ll end up at a bottom-to-mid-table La Liga side. Relatively low levels of intensity and physicality in that league would suit him. He has the technique for it.

Or more likely there's an offer on the table, but Taylor wants more than we're willing to pay. I certainly wouldn't be paying him close to what our top earners get. He's a decent player and someone I'm happy to have in the squad, but he shouldn't be our first choice LB.

Thought he was really good today again. Really tidy on the ball and no issues defensively. Gave me a fright at the end with that slide and almost missed it but did enough.

Could be that. If so then it's all the more obvious its not a priority.

He's been out first choice LB for 2 seasons with practically no support/rest. Can see why he might think he deserves more or wants a change.

He’s tremendously underrated by our support, imo.

If his name was Giorgio Tonelli he’d be thought of as one of our best players over the past 3/4 years.

His main issue is a lack of physicality. He has no pace, no height and no strength. I think if he had a foreign-sounding name, that would be just as obvious.

It would be but his technique positioning and movement would be appreciated far more.

It will be his biggest contract or move of his career..

His agent will be trying to get top dollar for him.
