Thought he was decent today to be honest, he’s 100% the weak link though and every team we play tries to exploit it.

We really need to get that left side of defence sorted, I like GT and Scales, good players but not the bar we should be aiming for, especially at the back.

Good first half, mainly because it was us on the ball the whole half. He’s a tidy footballer and links the game well.

Second half when we had to defend more, he was shown up a few times with his positioning and lack of any pace.

And btw, Martin Boyle is finished so pocketing him isn’t any great triumph these days. Injuries have killed him.

You have to wonder sometimes about our coaching. In the second half when he’s being caught up the pitch so often with balls in behind to the space, surely having a wee quiet word him and telling him to screw the nut could sort that out.

Didn't see him launch it to no-one. It's definitely not one of his faults. He passes the ball well and rarely gives it away from a pass - does sometimes give it away if he's caught in possession but that's not often.

It's like we only have 1 way of playing regardless of what's happening.

2-0 up and still being left 2 v 2 at the back, done it twice at home v the huns last season too.

With the pace we have in the front 3 I don't know why at times we don't sit in a bit when 2 - 0 up and kill teams on the break

    This.
If he's targeted as much as people on here suggest he must be some player because we concede very few goals domestically and I can't remember many goals that have clearly been his fault.

Would progress the ball far easier with a left back playing high and wide.

It's not clever or intelligent on his part, it's a manager having to alter his style of play to cover a players inability to play his own position properly.

Just * play the lad Anderson if we arnt gonna bother out * to replace the wee *

I agree we need to sign another LB because we should be looking to improve practically every position, but it says something that both Ange and Rodgers have played Taylor the vast majority of games these past 3 seasons. I mean it's not like we haven't signed any players during that time, we've probably signed 30 to 40.

So if Taylor is this complete and utter liability, how come LB is one of the few positions that both these double and treble winning managers have been content to play Taylor in, each time prioritising strengthening other areas of the team? Are they both clueless?

I'm not his biggest fan but he was decent today.

Really good first half and he picks up good positions on the inside. He had a * spell 2nd half where he genuinely couldn't pass it to anyone but that was in amongst the same period that his comrades were doing the same.

I don't mind him most games domestically but we need more pace and athleticism in there. If Boyle fancied even playing today he'd have been past him constantly. We are lucky most wingers in the league are utter *.

I'd put it down to our pish poor recruitment team and their inability to find us a left back and their literally being no other choice other than that clown Bernabei

I like Taylor, he’s a very good player who is a key link for us domestically between defence and attack. Very technically proficient for a full back, on the half turn etc. Very good passer, never hides, great character.

His obvious deficiencies are somewhat out of his control. He’s very slow on the turn for a full back and actually slows down over a long distance.

As he plays for a team that will always play a high line he’s the clear and obvious target.

He’s never going to be the strongest. Again, he’s the obvious target, as the man that plays right back for us isn’t getting outmuscled by many players.

Then when we’re penned in, he’s * tiny and * in the air. Again, the obvious target.

The only thing he can control that he can get better at is the fact he backs off constantly when getting ran at by a winger and relies on back up from Maeda or Forrest.

Then again, that’s probably because he knows once he’s beat he’s never getting back, as his pace over more than 10 yards is appalling for a full back at our level.

Feel sorry for him in a way as he offers a lot to the team in the vast majority of the games we play, but he’d be one of the first to go if we are looking to go to the next level in Europe, and I think the manager is of this opinion.

Everything you say about Taylor is probably true and accurate, it's just a pity we can't find a taller, quicker version of him, but that would probably cost us about £10M, and our parsimonious board would never sanction such a financial outlay.

Rightly or wrongly, I also get the feeling because Taylor is reputed to be highly thought of at the club, is popular, and three successive Celtic managers have all rated and played him, as well as the current Scotland manager, that they don't want to rock the boat with him, hence why I feel they will go down the road instead of natural succession by promoting Anderson and Frame as his stand ins.

Every team we play will target our left side because its so weak with GT and Scales. I do reckon that Scales is the weaker of the two and needs replacing pronto. Taylor was decent first half but was all over the shop when they got a bit of traction.
