Yeah I can’t mind him doing anything and they came through that side a few times it felt like.

I don’t mind him he’s steady 50%, great 10% then below average/poor the rest. We can do better but he’s be fine as a back up.

Sick to death of him sucking the life out of some of our moves, with his negativity.
He really is such a weak link in out set up.

Honestly don't get why some seem content with Taylor. He is frequently caught out of position, frequently bullied and constantly misplacing passes.

When you think of full backs we had over the years you can't help but noticed Taylor doesn't rank very high. Taylor would be great backup to the likes of Tierney, izzaguirre and even possibly the likes of Hayes or Mulgrew. Taylor is not the required standard for it first team. Hate being harsh on any of our bhoys but honestly I just feel like he is a serious weak link in this team

He badly needs replaced, aye. But he’s a far better full back than Jonny Hayes ever was.

Taylor is probably our 3rd best left back in the past 20 years, which is a bit mad.

Tierney and Izaguirre are better but Naylor, Camara, El Kaddouri, Fox, Braafheid, O'Dea Mulgrew (as a LB), Hayes, Boli, Laxalt etc, probably missing one or 2, were all worse for us.

Maybe a damming indictment of our ability to buy left backs

I disagree myself and honestly at his peak would opt for Hayes ahead of Taylor everytime. Much more attacking threat and certainly less bullied than Taylor. Infact, one viewpoint is when we played against peak Hayes you would consider him one to keep an eye out for, which isn't a common place for a lb. Can't say I ever felt the same about Taylor when playing Kilmarnock. Hayes would give you a bigger more meaningful shift, wouldn't get bullied, hard in the tackle, pretty quick. I am struggling to see what Taylor does better than Hayes tbh?

Johnny Hayes is one of the worst players to play regularly for us in the past twenty years. Folk criticise Maeda's technique but Hayes' was worse. Taylor is miles better than Hayes as a left back.

Honestly disagree, think there is perhaps s debate as to who is who is better - miles better is definitely a stretch though.

I am basing this opinion on what I seen but have a little look at the records too, Hayes has the following against his name -

    League cup with Aberdeen
Won the league with us three times
    2x Scottish and league cup
    Goal of the season 2013-2014
    Team of the year 2015-2016
Most assists in the league 2016-2017
    Goal of the season 2015-2016

    For Taylor

Won the league with us three times
2X league cups and Scottish league cups with us

Hayes had to compete with Tierney for a place in our team. Taylor has to compete with bernabei, not even bernabei anymore.

Anyway, my point being is that Taylor isn't good enough.

Hayes was a left winger who was shunted backwards because he wasn’t anywhere near good enough. A genuinely awful player. Taylor has his flaws mate, but he’s far more competent a player than Hayes ever was.

Most of those achievements weren’t with us though mate, I liked Hayes for his industry and coming on to outwork everycunt and others would up the effort because of it.

Also having him, stopped him scoring * screamers against us. Didn’t show that technique and end product at us though. He was a worker and a * I like having in the team.

Compared to Taylor and the importance he has in the team and what he’s been a key member of, and a big part that seems to be ignored too much, his leadership and organisation and constantly talking or chinning guys around him. There’s no contest, Taylor wins that comparison to a ridiculous extent.

One of them where we clearly have different opinions lads. Certainly don't think Hayes was a great player for us, he clearly wasn't but I really don't think there was a huge ability gap between the two. Taylor is never going to make a team of the year, top assister of the year or goal of the year. I appreciate Taylor is a lb and scoring screamers isn't necessarily a requirement but he doesn't even defend well. The career stats don't lie, Hayes didn't get those accolades out of pity, those achievements got his move to us to be Tierney's backup. Taylor got his move to us because he was meant to be cheap back to to bolingoli.

One thing is for sure, we can and should have a far better lb than Taylor. Fed up of him constantly giving the ball away cheaply, being bullied and being caught out of position. Big weak link in this team.

Hayes didn’t get those accolades at LB either if we’re giving a fair comparison mate. And he didn’t get them at us either.

Aberdeen peak Hayes on the wing, definitely can be trusted to score more, set up more and a couple screamers, usually vs Celtic as well :56:

I get what your saying pal and I know he didn't get them here but what accolades did Taylor get prior to us? That's a fair comparison.

He didn't get them achievements at lb granted but the fact that Hayes can/could play multiple positions is something that goes in favour of Hayes being the better player - doesn't go against him surely?

I think another thing that has to be taken into consideration is if Hayes made our line up it meant Tierney was injured, so of course it would have a negative feel to it. Taylor on the otherhand gets the position because he is the best if a bad bunch when it comes to lbs.

I honestly think I'd pick peak Hayes over peak Taylor everytime - though I can see the point you are making.

One thing I am 100% on though, either way, there certainly isn't a gulf in ability between the two (at their peak) and that is what my original post was all about - Taylor isn't good enough for us. Hayes wasn't good enough either, certainly not putting Hayes down as a great haha

Taylor under ange is on another planet to johnny hayes, seriously dont see how you can compare them both. Even taylor this season is better than prime hayes.
