I don't see it personally. In what respects are the gaps between them massive?

His positioning is terrible. Constantly too high

He runs for a one two with our winger on every occasion, gambling on them not losing the ball. Leaving space for the opposition.

He can't defend crosses, awkward in the air.

Hes rash in the challenge, fully commits every time.if needed or not.

He didn't play well on Wednesday, he just wasn't punished for his mistakes.

He has more pace than Taylor, That's it.

We won a double and a treble with Taylor playing a huge part, he's been ran into the ground by not having adequate back up.

It's a theme of our poor recruitment.

I broadly agree with you but think a lot of those points could be said of Taylor also.

Taylor is also often caught out of position because he cuts in so often. He's not trying to play one-twos, but he's quite frequently floating around the box and I think that's unwise when we've got guys like Welsh and Nawrocki in defence. He offers more than Bernabei in attack though, so there is definitely a gap there.

I agree Bernbei's challenges are more rash than Taylor's, he's a constant risk for a straight red. And Taylor is more of an on-pitch presence. I don't know if he organises the defence exactly but demands accountability.

For me, though, I don't agree Taylor's fatigue can account for this season, I just think he's become exposed since being asked to adapt to play as a regular full-back. He was exposed last season in Europe also but his performances in the league distracted from it.

That's where I draw a near equivalence between them. Both are a long way off it as defenders, even within the quality of the SPFL. You upgrade on Berna to Taylor and you still have a problem in that position.

Hes not had a great season but who has?. Look at Johnson and kyogo etc

He's not a champions league level player but who is? We are struggling domestically at the moment.

We should have brought in someone capable of making him back up but our recruitment has been shocking for years.

Bolingoli, laxalt, bernabei.....revert to playing the best option ..Taylor.

It happend with lustig too, it was obvious he needed competition for years and we brought in Gamboa, Tojan etc we still played lustig .

Similar theme with Brown, Eboue, Soro, the Dane, Mccarthy, Guchi, Iwata.

We've had to replace Brown with Mcgregor, nullify a lot of his attributes. Not been able to rest him etc because of * recruitment.

I take your point with the recruitment, that can't really be argued with. I'd be very happy with him playing against teams we were set up to blow out the water, whilst a more complete full back could take on the tougher challenges. I don't think I'd want Berna in basically any side we fielded.

This is a good example of him having absolutely no game sense. Yous are talking me round tbh.

One of those players when he’s not available to be picked is the only time he gets appreciated for what he brings.

I want a better Lb in the summer, but * me our fans are harsh on the boy man.

He bought himself 6 weeks of love calling Morelos fat and telling him to clamp it, he needs to slate Cantwell or something in the next one.

I want an improvement in his position but when he went off yesterday is when we lost control of the game, and Bernabei is ultimately what cost us as his replacement.

    So good having him back.

Really missed him running into centre circle to bounce the ball straight back where it came from.

Kids are taught from a very early age to have their body open so they can turn and play, he must not have got taught that at murray park.

Probably the right thing to take him off as just back from injury but Bernabei is a car crash of a player. Dribbling and taken players in, losing the ball in stupid positions, getting bounced off the ball, his list of deficiencies is never ending. And of course the goal came from a player in his position.

Hopefully he can play the full 90 against Motherwell. Far more likely to win with him on the pitch.

He is a much, much, better player than most Celtic fans would have you believe.

He goes about his business efficiently and you only notice it when he’s not there.

I don’t see the need for an instant upgrade in quality at left back as much as others, just competition and ideally a more marauding type that’s still a decent defender but they don’t grow on trees.
