Prior to last weekend, Greg Taylor had played 97 games for Celtic and only scored two goals in that time.

A week on and Taylor has reached the century of appearances, scored the winning goal in a hectic 4-3 win over Hearts, and then marked the 100th game with the crucial second in a 3-0 win away to Livingston.

It was another huge display from the left-back at Almondvale as the Celts moved four points clear at the top of the table and he was delighted to reach such a milestone in such an impressive manner.

Speaking to Celtic TV, he said: "It's a big achievement for myself to play 100 games for this club and I’ve loved every minute of it. To top it off with a goal was nice.

"You always aim to have success where ever you go and it probably took me a bit of time to have that status of playing regularly.

'Now, I have a manager who really trusts me and has a philosophy that suits my game and it’s one that I really enjoy playing in.'

"I’m grateful to him, he’s the one that gives us the opportunities and then it’s just about taking them.

"It’s going well as a team and we’ve been strong with our league form.

"It’s a tough place historically for us and I thought it was a real professional performance from the lads.

"It’s a difficuly place to come, it’s a short pitch and they can throw it in your box from distance and as a defence we dealt with it well.

"You can only do that if the guys at the top end of the pitch are putting real pressure and they done that throughout.

"It was a real team collective to get the clean sheet and win and we move on to a big game on Wednesday."

Wednesday night sees the Celts travel to face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernbeu in the final Champions League match of the campaign.

While there's no jeapordy on the game for Celtic, Taylor can't wait to test himself on such a big stage.

He added: "I wish there were more consequence on the game because we wanted to progress.

"But it’s one of the biggest stadiums in the world, against one of the biggest teams in the world and that’s where we want to be to test ourselves, so I’m looking forward to Wednesday now."

He is my player of the season so far. I've said it a million times I wouldn't have bothered if we'd sold him but he's now such an important part of our team, what a difference a manager who knows what he's doing does for a player. He's such a likeable character as well.

Another five star performance from Taylor rounded off with a ferocious nutmeg of the goalkeeper. If Taylor keeps this up he must be hot favorite for Player of the Year.

I also like the idea of Taylor perhaps being tried in the DM role sometime, as he has the tenacity, tackling power and self discipline to be able to play that position as well.

In many ways, Taylor's football trajectory is following the same path as Calum McGregor.

Incredible turnaround, keeps getting better and better. Deserves huge amount of credit for the work he's put in to improve his game.

I don't care who he used to support, not the first of their supporters to have signed for us and seen the light (Kenny D and Danny McGrain being the most famous examples) his mum and dad were at the game today aswell.

I do enjoy how much it winds them up though, seen some going on about how he better think again if he thinks he can come back to Ibrox when he retires, like he would want to. Delusional the lot of them. I don't expect Scott Arfield to be turning up to Celtic Park with his brother when he retires, he has been playing for them for years and has clearly bought into their * one of them now and that's fine they can have him.

If he gets player of the year, which he’s been by far this year, his head will explode. Turn up to awards night with a tactics board showing everyone how the elite managers target him.
