I think we're seeing the fruit of finally having some proper time for training over the break. Ange kept making the point that he never really got a proper chance to train with lots of these guys and now with folk like Abada and Taylor you can see how much just a couple of weeks benefits them. Imagine after a whole pre-season...

Was thinking imagine Tierney in this team then thought how good would he be playing the inverted FB role. Great player but being on the ball in tight spaces was his weakness, would just hoof it. Obviously would have KT everyday of the week if it came down to one or the other lol. But Taylor is surprising me, got plenty of assists when he first came aswell but not worried about his lack of assists anymore, not really his job anymore, as with JJ he’s doesn’t get many but it’s the ‘2nd assist’ or whatever you want to call it they get more of.

Aye, if Tierney had a weakness it was probably taking the ball in tight spaces as you say. He's more of a modern-day rampaging full back that likes to stretch the legs. Would've been interested seeing how be got on though, for sure.

I think in some ways Taylor's limitations have meant that he's fitted well into Ange's system. He knows he's not going to burst by men down the line, he knows he doesn't have a bag of tricks like Izzaguire - so the result is he does the simple things and does them well. He knows the likes of Jota, Hatate, Rogic, McGregor etc. are more capable in the offensive areas, so why hog the ball and deprive them of the opportunity?

He's definitely more vocal and has been in backing up his teammates when the opposition having been leaving studs on us...good to see.

If Ange trusts him then who are we to say differently?

Yep totally agree. The ball to Hatate for the 1st on Sunday was a good example. No need to try run past 2 guys out wide when you can lend it. He’s done passes like that loads the last few games, from in there and the natural LB position into the centre of the pitch. Not just 5 yards some 30-40.

As for defending players after bad tackles that’s also good to see! Lacked that since KT and Brown have left. Rogic is another I’ve noticed who does that more often now.

His tackling aswell has improved, took him about 30 seconds to smash someone last week and got another couple hard ones in too that night.

Let’s hope he keeps the good work up and improves also as he still has a bit to go.

Quite a few players not at it tonight but Taylor turned in another solid performance.

Did we actually have him marking Lewis Ferguson at set pieces? I’ve yet to watch it back but it looked that way to me and it’s mental.

No sure but after Ferguson headed it towards Hart at 3-2, he then launched Taylor almost Duncan Ferguson on Paul Ince style and no freekick was given :87:

    He was poor tonight..

Was one of our better players second half. Thought he was very quiet first half.

1st half he quietly got about his job allowing others to play. He makes a * of a lot of room for McGregor.

    Fair enough.

Didn't see McGregor or any of our midfield really use that room tonight. Aberdeen's game plan in midfield mostly worked and ours didn't.

Think in the first half it worked a treat, we were all over them. Was McGregor getting room and clipping a pass into Maeda for our 2nd and Jota’s that was fine but disallowed was McGregor getting room to pick out an inch perfect pass again. 2nd half tactics change to keep our full backs wide and they overloaded the midfield and we didn’t adapt at all.

We do need to adjust here, even if it means a tweak to our shape.
