Greg Taylor

Bottom line is, if we want to be a competitive force in Europe, we need a better first choice left back than Greg Taylor. He's just nowhere near good enough for the level we should be aspiring to.

 

He and Scales are fine as backups and squad players given the sheer volume of games we play each season. But totally agree we need to find a better left back to be the main man there as we did with Juranovic at right back.

 

He’s a good player but it’s clearly an area we can improve on

 

My issue with Taylor is he is so physically unimpressive. He is very short and weak in a tackle, but normally full backs like that make up for it with a real burst of pace but he is ridiculously slow as well and has no acceleration.

He might be able to invert and follow what the manager wants him to do but the physical aspect of having no pace, being small and no strength means I can’t see how he grows into being the first choice left back we need.

 

Ange must see it, he's had to play Juranovic there a lot..

 

Only when Taylor was injured or just coming back from injury.

 

There's obviously (hopefully) some nuance we aren't seeing.

Only thing I can assume is that Ange sees him as the best fit for the inverted full-back roll when in possession, the net outcome overall surely isn't worth it given how easily beaten he is out of possession.

Reminds me of signing de Vries 'cause he's great with his feet only to realise he is a dreadful keeper.

I don’t rate him but he’s probably the fittest in the squad. Don’t think I’ve ever watched him and thought he was tiring or needed a rest.

Should've been a foul but 3 time's he tried to turn inside with a cruyff turn or that and got caught out everytime..

He's shockingly bad..

 

Looks like's he Ange's blind spot, he's so far behind the rest of the team for me, even as back-up I'd maybe look elsewhere.

 

He’s a far better option at LB than anyone else in the team.


I don’t rate him but anyone who doesn’t see the difference in us with Taylor compared to Scales or Juranovic there are at it.

 

Juranovic is far more solid defensively at LB than Taylor is

I know it’ll be unpopular but I actually thought he made a bit of a difference when he came on.

No fault lies at his door for the sending off when a referee just ignores a blatant foul on him.

Is he good enough to be our first choice left back? Probably not, however he’s comfortably the best of the current options and should play on Wednesday with Juranovic the other side.
