The EPL clubs are definitely a victim of their own wealth. As much millions they get shovelled at them they have to spend it because of the inflation of players values when they come to the deal. Much like ourselves to a degree when dealing with our league counterparts. And that should be the way of it because we don’t let our players loose for buttons.

Has he recently signed a new deal or is he still under his initial contract terms?

Not sure I just seen his basic wage was 1k a week, if so then that doesn’t reflect his fee that Kilmarnock are asking.

Kilmarnock boss Angelo Alessio has confirmed the club has held talks with Celtic and Sunderland over Greg Taylor .

Record Sport exclusively revealed on Tuesday the two sides had submitted offers for the left-back.

And now Alessio is bracing himself for the player’s departure.

The 21-year-old - who is set to miss Saturday's game against St Johnstone through injury - may well have played his last game for Kilmarnock.

Sunderland failed with a £750,000 bid on Wednesday, with Killie owner Billy Bowie holding out for £3million.

Celtic have identified Taylor as an option to replace Kieran Tierney – but do not want to meet the Rugby Park’s asking price

Asked what would be a fair value for the player, Alessio said: "This task is not mine, it's the club's. But it has to be the right thing for the club. I hope Greg can stay with us but I understand the situation. This deal is between the club and the other clubs.

"Every day I read about Celtic and Sunderland. But it's only conversations. It's normal in this period of the market.

It's difficult because I've already said we want to keep our best players.

"I think right now I need to clarify the situation. There have been some conversations about Greg but at the moment it's only conversations. I don't think there has been a right offer for him.

"Is it inevitable that he will leave before the deadline? I hope not. He's important for us and the team.

But I understand the situation. If the club receives the right offer we can lose him."

Taylor has a hamstring strain which could see him miss out on this weekend's trip to McDiarmid Park.

But Alessio does not expect his mind to wander if he is called upon in Perth.

He said: "At the moment it's difficult because the players can see an opportunity to change and improve their career.

But at the same time my focus is my team and the game on Saturday.

Greg only trained today but I don't know if he will play as he has a little hamstring injury so at this moment I think we'll be without him.

"I spoke with him about his injury. The guy is normal at the moment. It's only rumours and of course Celtic is a top club for him and a good opportunity for him.

"But at the same time he is a Kilmarnock player and for this reason he must think about Kilmarnock."

"Taylor’s place in the Scotland squad for the Euro qualifiers with Russia and Belgium could also be in doubt."
from the sun, basically means if he signs he won't start Sunday, might rule us going for him now?

ANGELO ALESSIO has conceded Celtic would be a great career move for Kilmarnock left-back Greg Taylor.

But the Italian also insisted now is not the right time for him to go.

The Hoops have the Scotland cap on a target list and Killie boss Alessio confirmed talks between the clubs.

But with only three days left until the transfer window shuts Alessio made it clear he doesn’t believe any move is close for the 21-year-old who’s been the subject of a rejected £750,000 bid from Sunderland.

He said: “Celtic is a top, top club in Scotland. It can improve Greg’s career. It would be a great opportunity for him.

“But at the same time, as a coach, I want him to stay because he is important for us.

“At the moment, I repeat it is only a conversation with the club and I hope he can stay. I understand the situation. It is frustrating just now.

“I’d hoped for more new players during the last two months, especially a striker.

“Is it frustrating for Taylor? No. I spoke with him about his injury and the situation and he is calm.

“For him it is important to think about Kilmarnock. His job is to be a player for Kilmarnock.

"At the moment there are some conversations — only conversations — between the clubs. But I don’t think at the moment there is the possibility of losing Greg.

“This task is not mine, it’s the club’s. But it has to be the right thing for the club.

“Every day I read about Celtic and Sunderland. But it’s only conversations. It’s normal in this period of the market.

“It’s difficult because I’ve already said we want to keep our best players. I hope it’s not inevitable that he’ll leave before the deadline.

“He’s an important player for us and the team. But if the club receives the right offer we may lose him.

“At the moment it’s difficult because the players can see an opportunity to change and improve their career.

“But my focus is my team and the game on Saturday.”

Alessio confirmed three of his first choice back four — Taylor, Kirk Broadfoot and Stuart Findlay — are almost certainly out of their game against St Johnstone.

Taylor’s place in the Scotland squad for the Euro qualifiers with Russia and Belgium could also be in doubt.

Surely, conversations suggest we haven't made a bid yet.. keeping our options open ?

There must be another LB we're keeping tabs on that the press haven't got wind of yet, i mean Bauer came completely out the blue, and neither Taylor nor Meling seem likely.
