I dont think it matters in the slightest how much money WGS had.Rangers had no money either. When MON came in he may have had money...but Rangers were still spending big also under Advocaat. All the Dutch guys ...Flo etc.It has to be Martin O'Neil.....WGS 2nd....Jansen 3rd.

i went for strachan for the reason being that as i grew older i began to appreciate the other aspects of managing the team such as competing with the mega bucks of the premiership and he gave us some fantastic european nights along with 3 in a row. some will argue that h had it easy, but truth be telt, u can only beat what is put in front of ya.

Im really excited about lennys future. He has played for both strachan and oneill. You can see that he has oneills passion and also strachans eye for a good cheap player. lets hope he can find a balance between the two and dominate the spl for the next 20 years, and be in charge until he dies :)

Hardly cheap mate. All those players cost a packet.

Might be better looking at all the players he signed that werent cheap and turned out duds. Our club still has problems with them.

Virgo? Loovens? Camara, Dublin, Du Wei, Lee Naylor, Doumbe, Gravesen, Jarosik, JVoH (left on a free, on top of his fee probably cost us @£6m) Willo Flood??

Plus loads of "ones for the future" that were a waste of wages.

samaras was £1 mil, as was robson and naka 1.5mil and boruc and mc donald both around 600k. Ye he signed duds but what manager hasnt. Virgo was a waste, Loovens done a job but is a donkey know. Camara was a free and part of rebuilding the squad. Dublin was brought in on free as a last min panic buy when their was speculation dat harstson was on his way and did a job. Naylor was decent for what we paid. Doumbe got a bad injury and before he got that was doing well. Graveson was wanted by half the premership and everyone associated with the club was deleighted with his signing as he was a big name, but unfortunately massive flop. Jarosik like donati started to show promise near the end of their career with us and could be argued did not fit in to strachans style of play. Flood was a donkey as was du wei and both were gambles. Big jan was worth his weight in gold for that last min winner against the huns alone, was dissapointed when he left us for a free

tommy Burns team, was the reason I got into football. It was great to watch but only won the one trophy. He was a great celtic manager.

Wim jansen, built a team and stopped ten in a row. would have been great if he stayed on another season or two. He was a great celtic manager.

Martin O'neill, brought us success and developed the winning mentality that lenny is instilling today. Brought us success in europe and nearly delivered the Cup. he was a great manager.

Gordon strachan, took over an aging expensive squad and had to make cut backs and work with less resources and still won trophies and got us into the last sixteen of CL twice. he was a great Celtic.

Neil lennon took over when the club was struggling , the players has no fight, pride or passion and made us all believe again. We are completing for a treble. He will be a great celtic manager.

    Voted for strachan.

    2 votes for TM?:56:

Has to be MON or WGS again as Jansen was just here for 1 season and although Tommy played great football, we didn't win the league albeit against a stronger Rangers side than MON or WGS faced.

Always difficult to choose between the two as we had great times with both but the run to Seville influenced me to pick MON. Even tholugh WGS got us to the latter stages of the CL, experiencing a European final is something I will never forget

i have seen us play under everyone of them managers from the dark days of the filth getting 9 in a row till the high's of the uefa cup final and till now

and my pick is martin, i never thought in my life time i would see celtic play in a european final and martin took us with his great team to it, i always remember asking my gradad what it was like going to lisbon and milan, and he told me if you ever get the chance to see it then you will know it's somthing that you can't put into words and it's just magic

when it did happen i could just remember the words he said to me, and it was magic and even till this day when i remember what he said hair stick up on the back of my neck, thinking about the game and how we played

    i * love being a celtic fan

o'neill hands down. yes he won a lot of trophies and got us to seville, but his single biggest contribution for me was galvanising the whole club out of being used to second best. he made us the team to beat, took on the worlds best in europe and generally made the support confident and proud of the clubs stature and direction

Its actually amazing to see how MON and WGS are just on a different level of achievement. Never mind the last 20 years but they are in the top four of all time along with Jock and Mailey. None of the rest are even close (even though I loved Tommy Burns more than any other Celtic manager or player in my lifetime). It actually gave me goosebumps just looking at MON and WGS achievements. what a period that was. What a 9 years. Some dissapointments but not many and the dissapointments weirdly were all last-day title loses, one by WGS and two by MON.

Personally MON had the best team up to Seville and far fancier big wage players but that is part of the reason why I think WGS's achievements were so amazing. He basically did it with a bunch of SPL players plus a few starts. Took us to the CL last 16s with them. Amazing achievement. He was the right man at the right time because we were downsizing whether we wanted to or not and he achieved way above anything we could possibly have expected when we were downsizing and slowly filling the team with SPL type players.

I also find it kind of touching when a manager can give ordinary guys like Robson, Hartley, Skippy, Wilson etc CL experiences to cherish by somehow making the team bigger than the sum of its parts. Kind of reminded me of a Jim McClean types manager who did a lot with modestly talented players on modest wages in the 80s. Its was nice to see ordinary SPL players who had served their time at smaller clubs hit the heights and have glory nights winning the SPL ad playing in the CL etc. That is what the game is all about IMO. Cheque book football has no interest to me and thats why I dont watch the EPL.

probably MON. I was about 10 or 11 when he took over and his time in charge was when football was a boys main concern! i'm 21 now and its still my main concern :56: but in seriousness i remember the excitement of understanding football and going to the games and most of all the trophies.
