This message board, and Celtic fans these days in general, is very amusing. It's like a pendulum. One week, we've got a thread stating that Strachan has accomplished nothing, the next we have this thread. What makes Strachan's management of our club so sensitive to results? If MON had lost 4-2 at Pittodrie no one would have called for his head. But Strachan who, unlike MON, has never conceded a league title to Rangers, is hounded by fans after such a result.

I for one am pretty fed up with it. While Strachan keeps winning titles, despite the odd matchday loss, I think Strachan haters are baseless in their opinion that they want him out.

I'm Pro-Strachan and i don't think he is a legend. As someone said earlier this word gets banded about too much.

WGS may well become a legend at Paradise but he's a bit to go yet, and i don't think that bothers him too much. I honestly can't understand either how anyone can slate the guy while he's winning trophies and his teams are giving us great European nights at Celtic Park. The wee man has done a smashing job so far and long may it continue,

C'mon wee man bring us the Treble. :62::62::62:

    But legend, not yet...

Have to agree with this fella.

Also on another note I think Strachans setup from top to bottom is exceptional. The youths we have been bringing in and our reserves are looking like they could have real gems coming through. This hasn't happened under any of our other managers on such a scale (imo).

I think Strachans first side are one or two class players away from becoming truely incredible. Our midfield is looking tip-top particularly if Crosas and Brown live up to their billing. The options on the wing are excellent (McGeady, Maloney, Naka, Mizuno) and up-front I reckon we have the 3 of the 4 best strikers in the SPL.

If Boruc gets his act together, a quality left-back is discovered and perhaps get a centre-back on the level of peak-Mjallby to complement Caldwell then I have to say the first and second strings of Celtic will be outstanding.

    WOW a strachan debate...woooooo * hooooooooo.
Compairing jock to wgs is like compairing apollo 13 to the space shuttle.....different times.... different budget...different financial restraints....different playing ideas......the list goes on and on and on...cant we just be happy we are winning...????

I think all we are missing is some right good defenders...if we had those then we would give every one a right hard time...including europe.

you certainly cant argue with the mans record of leagues there are the nit pickers who say well rangers have been rotten etc etc see when rangers won 9 in a row most of those season (bar tommy burns era) we were a rotten football team couldnt defend properly and were being out spent by a long way.
I would love us to win the treble this season thta way no one could argue his status among the clubs history. Its the only one thing MON and Jock Stein done that gordon has done that is a realistic aim for the club (meaning obv not won a european cup or been to a european final but did make lst 16 MON never did that with a better team.)
As i ve said before strachen is a new manager at top club level where the winning expectation is high hes doing superb.
Remember he inherited a poor squad with few assets and most of top players were to be sold r released due to being high earners, he started by molding a team around petrov and then lost him and then bought keane then graveson which didnt work out for different reasons now he has brown who he again is building another team around not many managers need to re build there team that regularly and have as much success as he has had.
He aint perfect but definatley good at what he is doing.

Spot on mate,to many people forget he has done what he has and each year rebuilt the team.
I think next year is our first year where the team will see very few changes.

I agree with a couple of your points there. Like everyone else, Strachan and his management technique's have flaws and people should be allowed to air constructive criticism.

I must admit that when I found out that he was our new manager my immediate (and immature) reaction was "He's not the right man for the job!". It had nothing to do with his past because I didn't know what his past was. I was against him as manager because I could only remember him as the hot headed Coventry manager. I didn't think he'd get us results. After Bratislava and 4-4 V Motherwell I thought I was going to be proven correct. But now I'm incredibly happy that he has proved me wrong. I'm a considerably more mature person than I was 3 and a half years ago and I realise that he has been good for Celtic.

I'm not sure about calling him a 'legend' though. Personally I feel that that term is far too easily handed out these days and it's meaning becomes less.

Strachan is doing a very good job in my opinion.

On paper, it cannot be disputed, Strachan has a decent record but on the park, over the last three seasons, I have witnessed some of the worst Celtic displays/teams in living memory. I'm not the only one who thinks this as you only have to look at the thousands of empty seats every week to know what's being dished up is far from entertaining. I defended Strachan for the his first two seasons, saying that we had to give him time to build his own team with the limited budget he had at his disposal. He's had that time now and the football/team/tactics are getting worse not better. He is clueless when it comes to making tactical changes during a game and he only at the top of the league because the opposition is even worse.

Yes theres been bad performances at times and I'm sure you've been a fan long enough to remember to pre-O'Neill years where there were the true worst displays in memory. Basically every single performance in Europe before O'Neill in the 90's.

It's a valid point. It was worse than any of the European results mentioned by another poster.
