Expecting Shakhtar and Leipzig to wilt in the Parkhead Cauldron.

2nd very much on the cards.

Aye, but the unfortunate thing for us is that 6 matches isn’t enough time to be learning. Two games in a row where our finishing has cost us, which is disappointing whichever way you look at it.

It is disappointing, not saying anything different. I’m saying getting points in the Champions League away from home is a good thing, and we’ve got another level in us to go up.

It’s a good result in terms of when we saw the draw, before a ball was kicked, most of us would have taken your arm off for a draw away from home in this fixture.

But from the way the game panned out, the performance, and the missed opportunities, it’s very disappointing that we didn’t get the win.

We’re still in with a shout, and as many people have already pointed out, if we win our 2 home games, we’re guaranteed at least 3rd, and barring one of the other 2 pulling off a shock against RM, it should be enough to get us second place!

I can’t see Shakhtar picking up any more points in the group, so even if we “only” beat them in CP, I think that’ll be enough for 3rd place.

12 months ago we were 6th in the league...

Tonight we are disappointed that we *only* drew a Champions League away game...

In isolation, a good result and a good performance.

On the back of how well we played against Madrid though, and the expectations to get three points, it feels disappointing.

However, take the good where we can.

This is only game 2 of a champions League effort for the vast majority of these players and the manager. We are playing good football and going to learn from these things as well.

So long as we take 4pts off the Germans and win against donestk at home, we will still be in the hunt for second, with 3rd tied up as well.

That Depeche Mode when we score!!
Woke up this morning and I felt like we lost last night. If we can take 4 points off the Germans then it will then be a good point.

Anger at missed chances has died down a bit this morning. Still gutted but we played extremely well away from home.

Hopefully 3rd time lucky in the next game and we convert these chances. Still can't agree it was a good result considering we were the better team, but it's pretty much just semantics, and how you choose to see it.

That was not a good result good performance but too many times players wanted there champions league moment lost count how many times Jota ran into players, trying to setup a shot when a pass would have been better. I'd be fining players for every time they screw up a move by just running into players.

Then nobody would try anything. Absoloute * attitude that. I'd rather they had the confidence to try something rather than the days of old sit in and hope samaras got us up the pitch once a half.

"a team that destroyed Leipzig" Did you watch them yesterday? Why does it matter what results they had in the past when they've been clearly beatable yesterday? If they've played well and dominated I would be totally fine with a draw but it's mental to be ok with one based on the team's game against another side. That result only matters to us as it can make our progress in teh group much more difficult. If we'd taken our chances yesterday we would be on our way to secure 3rd place at least. Why should I be happy with us wasting such a big opportunity? It can easily hunt us as point against Leipzig are not at all guaranteed and maybe Shakhtar will play much better even at Celtic Park. Nothing is guaranteed and at this level we really need to take our chances when we got them. Thinking we can make up for them later is naive.

Having had some time to reflect, I will say I am impressed with how we dominated the second half. We lost control of the game for the last 15-20 mins of the first half and we were really begging for that half time whistle (I know I was). It felt like the game was slipping away, that our heads had dropped and that Shakhtar were going to score in the blink of an eye again.

Second half we got the energy of Maeda on and regrouped and took the game by the scruff of the neck. Shakhtar never had a sniff. Obviously gutting we never got the winner but the performance really was excellent to be head and shoulders above Shakhtar away from home. Massive game away to Leipzig in a couple of weeks. Get a point and I fancy us to qualify.

I get that we should have won, but from a fish-eyed pragmatic perspective... that's points denied to Shakhtar at home and Leipzig lost.

We get to play home games against our main opposition and the Cauldron should take care of that. Two wins at home and Euro football after Xmas is confirmed.

It's just a matter of what level.

We could literally find ourselves on 1 point after 3 games, but I’d still be confident we can finish second.

If we win our 2 home games, that leaves us on 7 points.
Then, assuming Real win all their games, Leipzig can only finish on 6 points max, Shakhtar can only finish on 7 points max but we’ll have a better head to head, leaving us 2nd place even if we lose in Germany and Madrid.

On top of that, I think we are well capable of getting a draw away to Leipzig, and even a sneaky draw at the Bernabeu if Real rest some of their main players.

…This confidence thing is scaring me, I feel I’m setting myself up for a fall!

Think he forgot himself and thought he was big Tam Rogic a couple of times last night. If he is going to try run through players with the ball rather than pass then he needs to be a lot better with his close control and strength his legs. But until then he needs to learn to just pass the * ball.

We certainly can't accuse any of our players of not trying and giving up, they keept chasing a second goal until the final whistle. Trying too hard to make it happen at times I think unfortunately.

More than once Jota and Haskabanovic had chances to pass or even shoot and just ran in into another player. At this level mistakes like that cause point s to be dropped. They're Keeper was great b it as should have won that comfortably now it's a case of best Leipzig twice to qualify.

I thought exactly the same about Shakhtar coming out and going to look far stronger second half. I thought we looked a little burnt out the last 15-20mins of the first half. It was the total opposite though, we were on the front foot all second half. I never once felt worried we were going to concede, it was just a case of could we find a winner. Said this last night, but you would need to go back a very long time since we dominated an away game in the Champions League like that. Group is wide open in terms of finishing 2nd.
