What driver do yous all use? Interested to get a gauge especially from our resident pro and scratch players...

I'm using a Ping G425 atm. 2021 version. Another thing that's happened to me since getting into golf is I've became a proper equipment nerd.

Today I was really pleased with the bunker shots. Annoyingly had to be in them...but still!

As long as you can get out.

Currently watching the genesis final round. I've a 5er on nick Taylor for 1300 quid he's T6. Manifest!

You’d be better going for a fitting mate. I went to Scott Gourley at Swanston. The head doesn’t make much difference to be honest, it’s all about the shaft. I ended up leaving with the same head but changed my shaft, just because I didn’t like the look/feel etc on the new heads.

Cobra LTDx for me, Project X Smoke iM10 66g stiff shaft. I've actually got it set at 11.5° loft too which works for me, much higher than most lads.

As Murph says, a fitting is a game changer. I used to play with M2 irons and last season changed to Wilson Staff CB irons. Went into the fitting with a rough idea of what I thought Id end up with, but the Wilson's surprised me no end, improvements in all of my numbers and I just love them.

Mack Daddy 4 wedges in the bag (50°, 54°, 58°)

I bought the LTDx 7 wood and it's been an absolute game changer. Complete cheat stick.

@murphy88 @Marty McFly aye I think I'm gonna get a fitting for a new one this year. And maybe some irons as well.

I built my own bag after researching for 3 months based it off forgiveness etc and it's served me well to get into the game but think I'd benefit from some guidance and see if it improves me.

Get my bonus in April might set aside some cash for that :BR1:

Wilson clubs are meant to be great. Sure they still hold the record for most majors won. But just aren't as fashionable nowadays.

Yeah man, I'll admit I was hoping to leave with a sexier name than that but these things are awesome.

    And they look great actually.

Not scratch by any means but currently I'm using the cobra darkspeed 9° in a mamiya linq m40x 6f4 things an absolute beast, aerojet 3 fairway kaili white 60s, 3 hybrid KBS pgi players 85g s, mizuno 921 hm 4-lw project x io 105g, spider x putter, I'm sure there will be some changes before the end of the season, I'm the same always looking at the latest equipment what the tech is ect not that it makes much difference to me

Agree doesn't cost any extra but the amount of feedback you get is brilliant, like you I had an idea of what I wanted but the numbers told me the opposite and right in the bags the mizunos went, I'm glad I trusted the fitter just 2° flat on my irons and what a difference that made,

Definitely go for the fitting some you can get the fitting and don't need to buy (American golf) but there fittings aren't as good as others Clydeway, Scottsdale, club champion are really good, Wilson make some great stuff especially recently think your right with the major wins I wouldn't let brand sway your choice most are pretty similar in performance, all comes down to the shaft

Lot of folk rave about the cobra clubs. Not sure I'll deviate from a ping driver anytime soon but if I get a fitting this year it may change.

I'm going to be getting a new putter this week. Going for the odyssey jailbird square. Has similar tech to the LAB putters bit 300 quid cheaper.

I said the same before I hit it, ping make some great forgiving drivers irons are quite good too, there isn't much between them all but you do have to like what you play imo, I like the mini version of that putter but I have a love hate relationship with it especially longer putts.
I'm thinking about a putter and a couple of wedges this year I'm liking the odyssey AI one 7s and the same in the square version, looking at the vokeys but I'm liking the zipcore full face and the price is quite good too

    Callaway Epic Speed.

Really like it to be honest.

As an aside, * knows what I've done to my swing - was up at the range the other day and was struggling like * to get over 100 yards with even a 7 iron - must be all those late nights watching * kawajima swing or whatever he's called :56::56::56::56:

Back to basics tonight if I can be arsed heading up to Bishopbriggs...

I went to get my current putter priced.

I bought a scotty cameron last year which was pricey as you'd expect. American golf offering me 250 quid less than I paid and I've played like 5 rounds max with it. Shambles.

The guy said go to clubs 4 cash and they're only offering 15 quid more.

So if you want a scotty cameron 2024, 34 inch putter for 300 quid let me know!!

Guessing you putt badly mate? I’ve had the same putter for 12/13 years. I lost a bit of confidence with it a few years back and switched to an Odyssey Triple Track but kept my old one as well. A year later I had it back in the bag. In my opinion, putting is all between the ears.

I'd say it's just inconsistent. I really don't like the feel of the scotty. I bought it just cos it looked good tbh and also I did to be fair get the version that was supposed to be most forgiving, the 11.5.

I've tried my mates spider and my other mates odyssey and prefer both. So it's a toss up.

I do like the Taylor made feel though I had a few puts in American golf tonight..

This might sound daft, but with regard putting... Do you put much thought into the type of ball you play? Do you always play with the same one? Or if you find a ProV1 on the course start to play with that?

Not game changing as such but I try not to stray from my usual TM Soft Response or Chrome Soft balls

A ball on the slightly too hard side for me, my putting would go to *

    May be a personal thing...

I remember when I changed to the Triple Track I honestly felt like I couldn’t miss from inside 10ft. I find mallet putters are easier to bring back square, which should put your mind more at ease as if you bring it back and feel it is off square, it can bring in all sorts of thoughts. However, after the honeymoon period I hated it and went back to my blade putter, and barring a spell of about 6 months, I’ve tended to putt very well with it. As I say though, I think a lot of putting is purely in the head.
