I know there's a golf thread for discussing pro tournaments etc but thought it would be good to have a separate one to chat about good rounds you've had, where you play, any course recommendations etc. More of an * golfers thread, if you like.
I took it up August 2023 and still only 27HC but absolutely hooked. Currently a member at Bathgate but moving to Deer Park start of the new season.

5-6 weeks in after mouthing off to the boys on our December night out that i'd spank them at it.
Currently holding the wooden spoon of the group but completely hooked. Done two 9 rounders and an 18-hole. Scores will not be diclosed, but getting better faster than I thought.
Helps that our group is very competitive and will quickly slag the * outta yemurphy88, cas79, Mr Shelby and 1 other person like this. -

Played as a wean, stopped at 14 then didn't properly play again until sacking football at 32.
Currently off 10.1 and hoping to get to single figures this season. Play in Carnoustie where we are spoiled with three tremendous courses.
Get some excellent away matches with the club, Newmacher and Cruden Bay especially. And off to Portugal in 4 weeks to tear it up there (literally :56:). I don't really play too many other courses, hardest I've ever played was the Castle Course in St Andrews in a card-wrecking wind..Last edited: Jan 28, 2025JML67, murphy88, cas79 and 1 other person like this. -

Carnoustie a links course(s)? I played strathtyrum links at St Andrews for my bday last year. Was great, preferred it to a parkland course but prefer the look of parklands.

Been a fan of watching golf for years and I’m * hot at it on the PlayStation if that counts for anything :giggle1:
Finally going to attempt to transfer that over to real life, got a nice set of Taylormades the other week, my mates back from working in Iraq tomorrow so we’re going out to whack a few balls about at the weekends till I'm ready to hit a course. Been about 20 year since I gave it a bash. Buzzing for it.Mr Shelby, JML67, murphy88 and 1 other person like this. -

I like to make the feeble excuse when I play inland that the grind and bounce on my wedges are for the harder links fairways when I inevitably chunk my approaches :34: -
Good to see some golfers on here, like many I got the bug a few years ago and now play pretty regularly currently sitting at 15. But been playing more to 10/11 (that card in medals really kills me for some reason) still loving it played a few big courses and trump Aberdeen was like nothing else absolutely stunning, we'll have to get a round sorted for the Celtic Bhoys come the summer been on a few meets over the years and always a good day,
My home course is sandyhills Glasgow

I've been playing regularly now for about 18 months. Got my handicap down from 30 when I first joined my local course to 16.8 currently. I'm down in Englandshire but want to get up to play some more courses up the road. Only played Palacerigg up there.
It's the most expensive addiction I've ever had but also the most satisfying (when playing well)
Going Spain for Paddy's day to play a few rounds and watch us slay the Huns. Should be a good trip!Mr Shelby, Marty McFly and cas79 like this. -
We're looking for somewhere decent/local-ish for when Hogganfield closes for 6 weeks next week. -
I use an app golf now, really good for tee times on other courses if your stuck

Always phone the course if you are seeing it on golf now. They are bad for showing tee times that have already been booked.
