Goalkeeper situation

Given or Westwood. Personally i only seen Westwood in a few games but i was really impressed.

 

Given is a good keeper but he would worry me as he''s not an attacking team goalie.

Given is in the mould of a Casillas and McGregor.

Celtic need a Schmeichel, Boruc, Van der Sar, Cech goalkeeper.

Casillas makes a lot of mistakes because Madrid get caught out a lot and Casillas excels in quick diving, he doesnt command the whole area and come out 1 on 1 well. Given is like this too and I dont know if he'd be reliable at coming out his 6 yard box a lot.

I would go along with that except Boruc, for me he is a loose cannon, and that personality or outlook will make mistakes!

Craig Gordon would be a good shout for our Keeper as he suits the way we play.

 

I'd be glad to see Forster in goals.
Did alot better than i thought he would at the start of the season.
Thinking he was only signed due to his height, but he has shown hes a quality keeper.
No doubt Newcastle also know this and arent going to let him go easyily.
And i'd agree that anything under 2million and we should buy him.

 

Wasnt meaning as good as each other just meant that style of Keeper.

You get 3 types of Keeper

1) 6 yard box keepers who like to stay on their line - Casillas, McGregor, Frey etc they suit defensive teams with deep defences

2) 18 yard box keeper who like to come off their line 1 on 1, Boruc, Cech, Van der Sar, Schmeichel.... they suit attacking teams who get caught out at the back regularly

3) Then you get the super keepers who are great at both like Buffon and Oliver Kahn etc

We need a 'number 2' style of keeper, Forster is one although not a Boruc level one but we'd be gambling to look for someone better.

 

naaaah would cost a fortune.

 

Dont think so he doesnt seem to get a game for Sunderland much although he is injury prone but £2million would tempt them, must be coming out of contract fairly soon too maybe next year?

I heard Gordon is on 50k a week and on top of his regular injury problems would be a gamble and a drain on us too much.

Given is on even bigger wages and isnt the same keeper he was a few year ago so i wouldn't go for him either.

A young keeper with a solid all round game and whos only going to get better and doesn't cost too much. (i.e Westwood)
