£20 million to replace Caldwell? Was he pished??

It`s probably just him taking pressure off the new guy. Haven`t spent much this season, so at £3 million, everyone will look at him to be the new main man at the back.

This is what Strachan annoys me with. Buys players, who look like really great players for the SPL. Then leaves them on the bench.

How will that make them better? And, I'd play Loovens against Dundee United as our defence was shambolic against St Mirren. What happened to our 4-1, 5-1 wins we got last season?

Not a peep about him since a couple of days ago.We actively pursue other targets. Once he plays against us once and Rangers are interested we rush in.I could be wrong but that's the way it comes across to me.

he better start before caldwell or mick, they are * liabillities, strachan better not have bought a 3million pound player to sit next to o'dea on the bench!

That proves our defence is better now then. If we just kept a clean-sheet against them when we concede last season. Cant blame the Center Backs for us not scoring another 4 goals....

think mick was too young to be appointed captain very hard to drop the fella, captains are always a contenious issue, although if it were me, should be your best xi week in week out

loovens to replace one of them at least, reason i would kick mick out would be that i agree he has been playing shiter than caldwell recently, and i hate the fact he is captain

TO ME ITS * OBVIOUS!.... Boruc should be captain, he is like the perfect replacemant to the neil lennon style captain, if someone * up then you remember when you've had a telling off, mick doesnt have the figure of authourity, or as much experience or respect as boruc, and if like many you like to keep the captaincy to a scottish player then hartly or robson would be ideal too!

so evident at matches, that boruc is always getting stuck into mick and the team would be a deadly captain

back to the man in the subject...

who would you line up in you're normal central midfield for match day, now we have loovens i think we should use him, he has shown how good he can be, i would line him up with caldwell, as long as caldwell carries on with his recent newly found form

Loovens won't walk into the side, Strachan is wise enough not to do that. Mick and Gary will certainly pick up a niggling injury or two this season no doubt (albeit they were very fortunate last season) so Glenn wouldn't necessarily have to leap into the first-team, just be patient and play convincingly when the opportuity arises.
To be honest i hope GS brings in a left-back that can replace Naylor rather than play second fiddle.

Loovens to replace Caldwell I think
Never liked him. Don't care if he is in good form just watch the next couple of games and if he is a usual duffer then people backing him up will say get him out!! and if he plays good cards on the table he should play, but I believe Loovens will be better than him.

if loovens played we would end up comparing what he did on the pitch and compare it to mick or caldwell, and im sure that loovens wouldn't mess up as many times as those 2 have in an average game, caldwell was really poor but has stepped up, it seems that mick has recently stepped down a gear, maybe this is time for him to step it back up or make way!
