In what universe is Giakoumakis a similar caliber player with Wanyama / VVD / Dembele / Tierney? Not to mention, he's considerably older than all these guys were when we sold them.

The reported fee is a bit underwhelming, but I believe GG is massively overrated on this board. Fair play to the big man for working his socks off any time he gets on the pitch, but he's a very limited footballer. I'm fairly confident we can find a better player.

I cannot believe people are entertaining folk who think Peter Lawwell is trying to shaft our club. There's actually a few normally semi-sensible people jumping on the bandwagon and believing this *.

Honestly man, give yourselves a shake. It's absolutely pathetic and embarrassing.

GG leaving for 3 and a half million at this stage of the season is a shambles of a deal on the face of it, there is no getting away from that. There are clearly mitigating circumstances involved otherwise we would never accept that sort of fee for a guy of his quality.

Whatever the reasons, it's hee haw to do with Peter Lawwell, and if you believe it has then you need to get off the * Internet and do some soul searching about how clueless you really are.

We've done some of our best business in years halfway through the season under Ange..

We've already signed 3 this window. 2 from the J league and 1 of those he's already signed before and was desperate to bring here......so we know it'll be Ange's man..

If he does that for that amount it’s an absolute disgrace. He’s got 3 1/2 years left on his contract, whoever accepted that fee has lost the thread.

I hope the journo’s are wise enough to bring up the fans disappointment at the paltry fee.

Extremely disappointed with the fee. Was hoping for an overall package of at least £8m. £5m upfront and potentially £3m in add ons. Strange strange sale this.

I know he probably wants to go and he’s probably get a massive increase on salary but I can’t see him kicking up that much of a fuss. £3.5m is * rank.

    Copied from Fb

Goal return averages of some notable recent Celtic strikers

Hooper- 1 goal per 135 mins
Dembele- 1 goal per 150 mins
Edouard- 1 goal per 140 mins
Kyogo- 1 goal per 108 mins
Giakoumakis- 1 goal per 96 mins

It would be a huge mistake to let him leave.

At the end of the day if the player wants to go and has made that clear to Ange then why stand in his way if he doesn’t want to be here. Re coup most of the fee make a profit and re-invest.

I’m not saying I’m happy with fee at all but could be circumstances we’re not aware of etc? And do we actually know the real fee?

If he wanted to go, why are we led to believe he was in contract negotiations with the club about an improved deal. He certainly hasn’t been playing like someone who is desperate to leave when he has got on.

Awk well looks like we have reversed and getting robbed again thought things had been looking up after the last few transfers over the years but the fees quoted regarding GG & Jura are laughable back tae it being £2m and a due to the pub league

It’s understandable when the odd mistake is made buying a player. The club can never be certain he will settle etc however, making a mistake of this magnitude when selling one of our better assets (particularly in front of goal) is unbelievable. Ange has always said if a player doesn’t want to be here…….but in this instance swallow your pride and keep him till the summer. That’s assuming he is not being disruptive in the dressing room.
Also if we singed someone tomorrow it’s unlikely we will see them for a couple of weeks, leaving Kyogo as our only recognised striker. That is mental.

This whole saga has been an absolute shambles from start to finish.

There’s no way we’d get a striker with his attributes for what we’re selling him for.

    Pathetic business.

3million? Aye right. Triple that and we can talk. Is there any real solid reporting on any links we have had? Suppose though. If its a case of celtic just wanting rid in case there's any trouble (which I doubt)...then we must have a replacement ready to sign

Offering him a 6 grand a week pay rise is a shambles is it? I can hardly say us offering him 50% more of his wage is a shambles.

has it even been thought of his wage demands were unrealistic and unreasonable for us due to him not being first choice and could cause a rift in the team? If we caved to his demands causes others to do the same.

Giorgos Giakoumakis' agent is arriving in Glasgow this week to finalise the striker's Celtic exit.

The Greek hitman is set to leave Parkhead later this month following rampant speculation over contract negotiations which broke down between player and club. Giakoumakis' representative, Blash Hosseini, is due to jet into Scotland for the entire week to organise his client's departure with a number of clubs still keen to sign him from Celts.

Giakoumakis is wanted by Urawa Red Diamonds and it's believed Parkhead chiefs have accepted an offer in the region of £3million from the Japanese club. However, the 28-year-old is mulling over other options, with MLS outfit Atlanta United reportedly seeking an agreement.

Football Scotland can also exclusively reveal Sampdoria of Serie A have had an offer rejected by the Hoops.

Giakoumakis was Celtic's top scorer in the league last season but may now have played his final game and scored his final goal in the Viaplay Cup semi-final last weekend.

We will just have to be pragmatic on this one.
    It is what it is.

I'm coming round to the idea of...

    Kevin Nisbet.
