Agreed. And he is genuinely a target man. Not a fancy dan sand dancer, Thought that in the games he played towards the end of the season he didnt do too badly.

Funny how Sammy is given more than enough chances to perform, yet Murphy is written off after a handful of displays and a few subby appearances.

Factually Murphys goals gained us as many points last seasons as Sammy.

    Facts eh?

Let's be honest both Sammy and Murphy should not be at Celtic, i'm not saying we're able to attract the cream of Europe but surely we can do better than that.

Has the potential to be more than good enough, which was my initial statement.

Unfortunately he hasn't got the confidence or consistency, which i hope Lenny can drill into him.

I think he's a useful player to have, he's different & can cause defences problems,

That phrase "something different". Wish another club would also see it and come in and buy him.

Hmmm, Murphy's penalty against Motherwell...or Samaras' double against the huns at Ibrox in a game everyone expected up to lose, and ended up turning our season around...

I know which one I consider more important.

The Orcs game was more sensational, no argument there. But 3 pts against Motherwell is as important as 3 pts against the Orcs, or ICT for that matter or any other club. And it didnt really turn our season around, as we didnt win the league. But I know what your getting at.

There is no doubt that those goals against the ORcs have given him a status amongst our fans that isnt really merited given his contribution before that game (no goals) and his contribution since (few goals, and a missed pen in a very big match).

    @ 10/4

Never said anything about selling any of our CM's but if there was one area of their game they could improve on it would be running through. Not just Sammy this affects but all our ST's when the ball is played up to them in the air. Ledley is the only one who goes through anywhere near enough.

Sorry mate, but for me, he just doesnt win enough headers as a striker. He will win a few, due to his size, but they are usually aimless.

When Hooper and Stokes play there doesnt seem to be too many problems with us scoring goals.

I know what your saying about the CMs not being a scoring threat, but I think that is in part to the way they are set up. Ledley and Kayal are not really expected to support the strikers in the way that the wide men are.

The bottom line is Sammy has been here 3 seasons, actually nearer 4 and has been unable to forge a relationship with any strikers that has been here. His play is incredibly erratic and frustrating and it is impossible to guess what he is going to do next.

For all that he has talent , no doubt, and all his foibles, eccentricities and maddening could be forgiven if he was able to put the ball in the net. Sadly, he is unable to do this. And after all this time, he is not going to change now. He has had one or two shining moments but for the most part he is a frustrating figure, who, in my opinion isnt good enough for us.

aye in mere flashes mate! minty at the moment is showing his assists but how many * up games has he had? how many great chances or how many times has he not takena chance where he should have scored and also pass the ball instead of pathetic shots that balloon over or go miles wide! i would love sammy to be this great player folk say he is? but he does not do enough and looks un interested most of the time. we need to sell him or give him away i dont care and get someone better.

Firstly, anyone that believes Samaras lost us the league is laughable.

You must be blind if you can't see Samaras has talent, I don't understand why there's a large section of the Celtic support showing crazy hatred towards him, rather than supporting him.

His agent even came out and pleaded for us to back Samaras, on his day he is a very good striker. The only thing Samaras lacks is consistency and maybe if he received the backing he should be, we would see his better performances more often.

If you don't rate Samaras, that's fine but the fact he's received a * amount of support, received insults that have nothing to do with Celtic and has been used a scape-goat, is shocking.

Our support may be able to create an amazing atmosphere but maybe we're not all we're cracked up to be, the support Samaras has received has been abysmal.

Lastly, I have every confidence Neil Lennon will get the best out of Samaras.

Alsy don't get me wrong, Samaras is frustrating. But the reason I defend him sometimes is that he's made out to be someone who never does anything right, when he has done good things for the team.

I completely disagree that he looks uninterested most of the time.

He works hard for the team, always makes himself available, its one thing that even the people who hate him that I watch the games with say cos they all wish he wouldnt try so hard so then he would have the ball less.

Samaras can go. I'd sell him while we can get money for him. He's the most frustrating player I've ever seen in my puff.

If I need to see him put his hands to his face after he's scuffed it out the park I'll throw myself in the Clyde.
